He really has been great and has earned his minutes over Marquis Daniels. I wish he could work more on his jumper b/c it looks as horrid as Rondo's.
Also I want to see him back in Green, but not on an overpaid "One great playoff series" contract like Tim Thomas or Posey.

3-4 mil per year over 3 years would be cool. Resign Ray for 6-8 mil over 3 years, and offer the MLE to Travis Outlaw or Mike Miller
Can't stop, Rondo!

I've like him since seeing his very first Summer League game in Vegas---where he and PP were betting each other on TA's highlight dunks-!...Pierce didn't really know him yet, he just came by to watch some of the new guys after the draft---You could see the potential.

I remember some great plays he made early in his career...the Awesome baseline put back dunk in Denver---the between the legs from behind steal he pulled off...He's the X FACTOR right now----coulda, shoulda been a star though.

i have hated his game since day 1 and not a fan at all (but i root and support him bc he is a celt).  BUT, he is playing outstanding this postseason.  i hope he keeps it up.  if he can play consistently, it gives us a huge advantage.

He's turned himself into a very nice little player. Lockdown defender at the 1, excellent at the 2, solid at the 3.  Tremendous ballhawk as well.  Even gets blocks on his man (2nd on the team in blocks in the playoffs).  Solid rebounder too.

On offense his jumper is still completely busted, but he's a surprisingly decent post player against small 1s and combo guards.  He's also a much improved off-the-ball cutter.  Solid finisher around the rim, with the athleticism to make something out of nothing but lacking the touch to be really remarkable.  Very capable of taking his man, even good defenders, off the dribble with crossovers and getting fouled at the rim, but still very turnover prone on these forays.  Lacks a floater so he also tends to huck some ugly stuff off the drive when contested.

I'd really like to keep him.  We have his bird rights so we can fill his rotation spot without tapping into the MLE, he's shown he can play with Rondo in spurts, he knows the system and he's finally shown the ability to contribute in the playoffs.

His complete lack of a jumper and his inability to play the 1 will hopefully keep the bidding down on him.  Consider that Bruce Bowen, the perennial 1st team defender and corner 3 marksman (39% career 3pt shooter), only got $4.1 mil in his biggest payday.  Here's hoping Milwaukee doesn't spring out of the woodwork to fill their overpaid non-shooting shooting guard slot now that Desmond Mason and Ruben Patterson are out of the league.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

And you guys were worried about him defending LeQueen James... Do you guys see now why we don't need a freaking James Posey for the purposes of defending LeCrybaby?

A guy like Tony, even giving up size, is a better bet to slow down a Lebron or Wade, than a slowing Posey.

Too bad Tony Allen never went to corner three point shooting school.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

TP, especially for getting that up on these forums so quickly.  Tony's had some absolutely sick dunks recently where he is really skying.

Man, I really hope TA keeps this up, not just in this post-season but next year (after we re-sign him!).  He's looking great and he's easily the best pure athlete on the Celtics.  Nobody else on this team can jump like that, and that's something we've really needed.  His defense continues to impress me, too.

What I like best about TA in the playoffs is he is incredible at stripping the ball. You can get away with a lot more physical poking of the ball in the playoffs, and he is consistently poking balls loose. I think he would probably get more foul calls in the regular season.

Excellent assessment.

As a longtime critic of Tony's mental mistakes, I have to note that he's doing much better limiting them.

He is a gasp of horror every time he rises with that awful-looking jumper, but beyond that he's unquestionably grown into an asset to the ballclub.

You can't overpay for a guy with no jumper, but he's definitely earned himself a re-sign.

Tony has a lot of his hops back. I honestly never thought I'd see this sort of stuff from him again. He's had some amazing dunks this year.

That with his increased focus, less hesitation and excellent defense I would like to say one thing; I am seriously sorry, Tony Allen.

So TA did that in this game? Wow!

His arm appeared to be half-way over the rim.... :o
