At this point, Sheed coming in and using his fouls to stop layups is pretty much the best we can ask for from him.

I'm still disgusted with him, though.

I can see where using him to waste fouls might help, but I end up with the same overall conclusion as you. (TP)

I pretty much followed the same path as you with Sheed this year ultimately leading to dissappointment.

However, I have leveled off my expectations and what he gave us last night was exatly what i was looking for. Sound rebounding and active defense. He was not called upon to score.

If he comes through offensively in a game it will be a pleasant surprise for me.

Those fouls were rediculous by the way and I really thought the first one was a bait call. Sheed showed some pretty good restraint not to pick up a tech.

Come around  to my side Bahku! It's much easier to watch Sheed play over here!

Also you were spot on about the captain. His defense in particular was phenomenal against James. He just made it tough for him to get in the lane. He did alot of denying him the ability to catch the ball in comfortable spots.

Sorry, Buddy ... didn't see the defense ... three rebounds, no steals, no blocks, took no charges ... where was all this defense? I'm not slamming your post at all, I just honestly don't see all this good stuff people keep talking about ... and I watched the game again twice, (after recording), looking for exactly that. Don't get it ... but I respect your opinion as always. (TP)

Did you watch the game, or just look at the stat sheet?  Because we all know that defensive stats like that don't tell us anything close to the whole story.

Did I watch the game?!? Wow ... yeah, I watched the game ... I have watched it three times, and I don't think that's a proper statement to make to someone who has always tried to treat you with respect. I don't make posts from reading stat sheets, and I think you know me well enough to know that I'm not going to miss watching a playoff game and then write difinitive posts about it. Really, there's no need for that kind of condescending statement. I would never say the same in your direction. Jeez.

Meh, I think you guys are looking too much into it. He's been quite active in this series, particularly defensively and that was true last night also.

He's currently playing a different role for us than we initially intended for him. Do we wish he was more than he currently is? Sure, but at the end of the day we're using him in a different role, and in that role he's been doing quite well.

He only took one shot last night, and that was to end the half when Rondo gave him the ball when he shouldn't have when he was way out the 3 point line after he provided a pick for Rondo.

What this tells me is that they weren't looking him at the post, where he's been fighting for position pretty much all series, and all series very few times has the ball gone to him. Which is fine in some regards since he played poorly during the season, but you can only be as productive as the opportunities you're given.

But he's been quite active defensively. Isn't that what you guys have been crying all season long? He's never been a rebounding machine, so let's not start complaining about that, though he's been active keeping balls alive... and 3 rebounds in 13 minutes is not bad for him. But he's been doing a good job defensively, and we don't need to take that away from him just so we can make ANOTHER thread about how disappointed we're with Sheed based on our expectations of him coming into the season.

We out-rebounded Cleveland by 10. I don't see anyone complaining about Davis 4 rebounds in 21 or Garnett's 6 in 32. As a team we got the job done. Who cares of who actually grabbed the rebound as long as he was wearing green?

Maybe I would see it differently if I watched it again but I think his rotations are alot better in this series specifically his help on Lebron and other penetrators do not result in weak slaps from behind. He is actually in a position to make a play.

Sheed's rotations have been fantastic. Not just the physical effort he exerts on them, which was lacking all season, but the intelligence he shows of when and where to rotate. He's finally using his high basketball IQ to help the team. To me, at this point, that's enough. I'm pretty impressed with Sheed.

I liked Sheed more in Games 4 and 5 than Game 2. He was still allowing Varejao offensive rebounds in game 2 and almost gave up as many points as he scored. He has been just phenomenal on defense and the boards the past 2 games. Might not look like it on the stat sheet, but he has been boxing out and coming up with traffic rebounds. Sad that my expectations for him have lowered to this point, though.

So these "intangibles" that don't show up on the stat sheet are worth the fourth highest salary on this team?!? I don't get it ... this guy is an under-achiever from the word go, and people want to praise him for it. He should be giving much more effort than he does, and I'm not remotely satisfied with what he does at either end of the floor.

It's amazing how a guy like Pierce can have a slump where people tout his bad stat line, but yet a guy like Sheed, who gets more money than two of our starters and six other bench players, can go scoreless again and again but be let off the hook for his intangibles.

Sorry, but I want to see more from this guy, and if he can't give it, then I want to see that money being made better use of. Adieu.

He's paid well because he is tall. He gets more slack because of expectations.

I wasn't trying to be disrespectful, but all you did was site stats in your argument, so I thought it was a fair question.  There is no need to get up in arms.

Nobody appreciates the Sheed reinventing himself the last two games as a defensive specialist :(

Oh well his most visible moment was when he missed his open look 3 at the end of the 3rd Qtr.

The beatings will continue until morale improves

Up in arms? How is what I said  being "up in arms"? "Did you watch the game, or just look at the stat sheet?" - Sorry, but I take exception to that kind of sarcasm, as you yourself would if it were said to you. It's not within the realm of good discourse, or mutual respect, (which should be a priority here). TP as always to show there is no malice on my end, however. Congrats on 2700.
