Most Valuable Players

Top Tier - LeBron James + Kevin Garnett + Magic Johnson + Michael Jordan

Second Tier - Shaquille O'Neal + David Robinson
Tim Duncan + Hakeem Olajuwon

I think those are the players who are the most valuable players in this game. Those are the guys who can cause huge matchup advantages for their teams + are capable of thoroughly dominating a game in many different ways.

Kobe doesn't make this list?

Nope, next tier down.

I do have Kobe Bryant ranked as the top two guard in the Western Conference though.

I am interested in your criteria for the Tiers..

Everyone in the second tier was a Nightmare to go up against in their heyday.

Maybe David Robinson would remain in the 2nd tier? IMO, he had Duncan to enhance his presence on the floor.

But Shaq? Hakeem? IMO surely 1st tiers, especially in their prime. Shaq was nearly unstoppable, with maybe Ben Wallace being able to slow him down in that 2004-05 Finals. Odd thing is that prior to that Finals, Shaq demolished everyone else, including Ben Wallace.

Shaq VS Hakeem? Roughly a Tie. Only saving grace Hakeem could use against Shaq was his quickness.

Maybe Shaq started his slow decline with that 2004-05 series? I don't know.

Hakeem? Man could hit mid-range jumpers..was unstoppable in the post. Kobe stole his Shake and Bake from Hakeem. I know there was mention of Rodman slowing him down in stretches, but in my memory Hakeem was a Terror..offensively and defensively.

Hakeem could guard almost anyone is his prime - his footwork was that good.

At least that is my memory of Hakeem and Shaq.

The preceding commercial is the opinion of the owner of the New Jersey Nets and has been actually not been a paid announcement brought to you by the management and ownership of the Utah Jazz.

 ;) :D ;D

I am not sure whether to explain those choices now or later in the game when the teams are closer to being finished.

It's probably better to wait another couple of rounds first.

That's cool, Who and NickAgneta. Wasn't trying to stir up trouble or anything. Was just wondering.

You aren't brewing up trouble my friend. It was just my way of thanking you for your very kind words regarding my boy Shaq.

That's cool..between being very tired and really worked up about what our Celtics have just accomplished, I suppose I am in a state of euphoria.

As optimistic as I was about Boston overcoming things here in the Playoffs, man at times it just didn't look like it - based off of the regular season.

And here we are. On to ORL!

Again - thanks for Very Thought - Provoking game here. This one and Roy's have really required some research.

Ok...after thorough review of some Youtube videos, the Kevin Garnett Top Tier stays ;D.

Goodness Gracious! That Man Was An Absolute Beast back in the day! Wow!

Still is, too. But KG's Beastivity was Huge back then....

Great Pick, StartOrien! Wow..

I'm in the middle of reviewing old Youtube clips of these guys..

Thanks, Edgar - yeah I have some things in the works..maybe a trade or so..there are still some players left - really good ones

Olajuwon was Awesome back in the day....but I must say that Shaquille O'Neal Absolutely Destroyed..Demolished folks..

I think Shaq will go down in History as the most devastating Center to play the game..but Hakeem, David, Russell, Wilt were game changers, too.

Russell has the most Rings, though...I think he was the Best Defensive Center to play the game.

lol..I saw this youtube clip when young Bynum dunked on Shaq, then Shaq got mad and swung at the youngster...
