I think Utah is a very interesting trade partner for the C's. Two of our more tradable assets fill needs for them. Perk would give them an experienced banger to pair with Millsap and Okur, and Ray Allen gives them the shooting guard they have needed for years. And they have some pieces the C's could use. A younger, star PF in Boozer, who is strong enough to do some banging down low, and could play well next to KG, an athletic 3/4 who might look very good in an up tempo game in Kirilenko, and a lottery pick.
They also have a large trade exception that could absorb Perk's contract.
So here are the trades that I think could all make sense, depending on the C's plans, and how much salary Utah is willing to take on/want to shed:
Perk straight up for the Knicks pick. This is pretty straight forward, and would be a decent haul for both teams. The C's get the mid to late lottery pick that is probably just about right for Perk, and they get a trade exception, which they can try to use to fill one of the holes on the roster, perhaps making it more palatable to use the MLE on a replacement for Perk.
Perk and Ray for Boozer. I have been throwing this one out there for a while. The C's get Boozer, who is one of the better PF's in the league, and I think would be a great fit next to KG, as he transitions to Center. It would really give another dimension to the C's offense. The downside, is the C's would then have to find a way to replace Ray. But this could be a nice "reloading" type of deal.
Ray and Perk for Kirilenko and Matthews. Kirilenko has just one year left on his deal, so this gives the C's a bit of a trial run with him in their offense, but he could be a great fit as an up tempo PF, allowing the C's to be incredibly aggressive defensively with Rondo on the perimeter, and KG and Kirilenko on the front line.
