Aside from the Celtics, I enjoy the Denver Nuggets a lot (hope we pursue Melo next offseason should the new CBA work in our favor and we still have cap). If they're going to make another run next season and have a shot at dethroning the Lakers, the need to to shore up that front court. Which led me to this idea:

DENVER TRADES:
Nene
JR Smith

TORONTO SIGNS & TRADES:
Chris Bosh

Financially, it would work. They could move K-Mart to the bench or to the 5 to save his knees a bit down the stretch.

I think Denver would do this in a heartbeat, but would Toronto?

(For those of you who are gonna follow with "Bosh is going to Miami", I honestly think Amar'e is more likely to end there than Bosh is...)
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I don't know if this really works for either team.  Nene is a lot to give up, and for Toronto, I am not sure JR Smith is a good fit.  It's an interesting idea, but I think there will be better options for Bosh, in cities that he is more likely to want to go.

I disagree that Nene is a lot to give up - he tends to disappear for long stretches of the games, especially in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good player - but they need more consistent effort from their front court (specifically at the 4 and 5). K-mart's injury proneness is always going to make him unreliable.

As far as JR in Toronto, I agree with you... Honestly, because of his attitude and streaky shooting, I'm not sure exactly where he'd be a good fit. But I'd be shocked if Denver doesn't try their hardest to trade him this offseason.

Well, its not that I think Nene is that good, but I think giving up Nene and Smith, two guys who are paid relatively reasonably for their production, and who are still reasonably young, and most importantly, are a huge part of what they do, is tough for a guy like Bosh, who I just don't think fits in with what they do all that much.  It just doesn't feel right.

More than anything though, I just don't think Toronto does it.

Great trade for Denver.

They would not get a better chance to add an elite talent until 2012 when all those big contracts (Nene, Martin, Billups) come off the books ... and even then, they are looking at a rebuilding period first.

If they could convince a team to take Nene + Smith for an All-NBA level talent, that is a home-run deal.

very lopsided deal for Denver.  Bosh is better than Nene and Smith combined.  put him with Melo and Billups and that's a powerful threesome.
