New Orleans Hornets Select:

Tracy McGrady

I couldn't decide between him and Mutumbo which is why I moved down.

Some interesting picks so far...  There are some guys I would have taken over some of the others chosen thus far.

Can't say I've ever liked T-Mac but it's tough to argue with 32.1 points, 5.5 assists, 6.5 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and .8 blocks per game that season.

By the same token, it's hard to argue *for* somebody who has never won a playoff series.

I'm just surprised that guys like T-Mac and Amare' are going in front of Hall of Famers who led their teams to multiple championships.

Roy you coming very close to breaking the rule of not discussing players that have yet to be drafted.

Got it, nick.  I'm going to resign my position, since I don't really have time to get up to speed on all of the rules, and have already gotten multiple PMs about people not wanting me to drop "hints".

Agreed, but we're also taking players at the height of their careers and placing them alongside other all world players. The best player Tracy McGrady played w/ that season was either Rod Strickland, Juwan Howard or Drew Gooden.

My assumption is at the height of his career, that Tracy McGrady alonside other all stars would be a better player than others who have made it further and accomplished more.

Inversely, would Tmac be the player he was if he didn't have the ball in his hands on most possessions?

Good question. I think you should stick around so we can hash all this out after the draft is over, seeing team composition, etc.

Having selected Nash already, my opinion is obviously 'yes.' I think his athleticism has him thriving in a more uptempo offense, similarily to how Jason Richardson is currently operating.

Yeah, I'm going to definitely follow the draft and the final rosters.  It's a cool exercise, although I worry about the competitive aspect a bit.

Absolutely. More Roy the better. We'll see how the draft unfolds but I since all the teams will be stacked it will be interesting to see how chemistry (or perceived chemistry) plays a role.

Remember, Drucci is in Europe so when we set the time with him it was expected he would not be hanging around for long stretches before the draft.
