Kind of an ironic thread title because I've said all season long that we should get ride of the Pierce iso because it wasn't working and frankly painful to watch Paul miss game winning shot after game winning shot...
I was even imploring Doc not to have a Pierce iso at the end of game 3 :
Please everything BUT a Pierce iso... not feeling it. Pierce hasn't hit a game winning shot all season.
But now I have to redeem myself (or say it was a reverse jinx à la Bill Simmons, but it wasn't
).
Frankly, it was awesome to see Piere hit that tough shot to win the game after seeing him fail repeatedly during the season... and to win such a pivotal game. Wow.
I like the Pierce ISO. It is one of the C's many weapons. I only get annoyed when that is all we run sometimes.
Man this team has so many weapons. The switch is flipped.
I think the one dimensional offense in the final 2 minutes is what most people hate.
Those who complain about an iso on the final play of a tied game are clueless. You don't risk the other team getting the ball with time on the clock. You need to make sure that overtime is the worst case scenario.
I think there are also a lot of people judge plays based on outcome instead of judging the wisdom of the play. This leads to incredible inconsistencies since they have no principles. Essentially, if we lose a game, whatever we did was the wrong thing to do for these people. This is one reason why we will get critics of every decision done after losses.
A good illustration of how silly that approach is would be a wager where someone has a shuffled complete deck of cards. You can either bet that the card to be flipped will be a heart, or a queen. The better choice will alway be the heart, even if a queen is flipped. To criticize a loser for picking hearts or to praise a winner for picking the queen is silly. Picking queen is just a stupid choice, even if it works.
