TA's redemption season reached its highest peak thus far tonight.  His importance to this victory was immense.  He almost completely marginalized Dwyane Wade in the Heat's offense, attacked cheating heat defenders on offense and played mistake-free, aggressive basketball for the entire game.

His attack mode, always a two-way street in the past, has finally been channeled in a singular, positive direction, and, tonight, he was primarily responsible for the Celtics victory.

Anyone else care to pay tribute?

You know what occurred to me after tonight's game?

Tony Allen might the player best-suited to defend D-Wade...not just on our team, but in the whole NBA.

Same height, same build and strength, similar speed and athleticism...TA is Wade-lite in every way, though his defense isn't that far behind.

Absolutely, especially when you phrase it that way.

As I noted earlier in the evening, I have been - and still am - one of Tony Allen's staunchest critics.  But his performance tonight - simply terrific, and there's no question the Celtics don't win without him.

My hat is off to you, TA.

More, please.

I dislike TA as much as anyone on here, but I have to stand up and give him an ovation. He was the difference maker in this game tonight. He was not only aggressive defensively on Wade making it tough on him, but offensively he was very good. This is the TA that so many of us see glimpses of but never with consistency. Keep this up TA and you may keep that role. Glad to see that Doc had the guts to sit Ray for awhile since his offense was off and TA is clearly a better defender.

Yep, I'm far from being a TA lover and I was always skeptical when he performed well this season but his performance was just awesome tonight. Hero of the game, D-Wade stopper, game changer, whatever, you name it. And he had the flu! I guess MJ's classic flu game inspired him. :P

Congrats to TA and let's hope he keeps this level of play for the series!

TA played great and has earned his minutes. Not only his D, but he was also big on offence early in the game. Great game Tony! Keep it up!

I always believed in TA.

Didn't think he'd be the game-changer though  :o

If TA didn't win the Tommy Award tonight, then it's a joke.

Just brilliant offensively, and didn't let Wade breathe on the defensive end. It's clear TA has Wade's number, and definitely has earned his playoff roster spot.

Hats off.

"The switch," I guess, is playing Rasheed half as many minutes as Glen Davis and keeping the guy playing the best b-ball out there on the floor in the 4th.

Good job Doc. :)

I dislike him as well, this was the best game I've ever seen him play. He won this game for us. TP for TA!

I have also been a TA doubter in the past ... I mean, let's be fair, we had good reason to be. But there are also few people who are happier than I am to see a guy turn his life (and game) around like Tony seems to be doing. Great job, TA ... your value went up considerably in this one. Respect is earned ... and you're getting there.

It's good to see all the TA non-lovers manning up and admitting he's playing extremely well. TP to all of you.
Also Doc keeping BBD in the game was a great move and I applaud him for trying to win this time, not just trying to please the egos of the older crowd. BBD played great and TA and he were the reason we turned the game around and WON@!!!

Beautifully stated.  More in re: Sheed, since I was less enamored with the Infant than most, though he did some good things down the stretch.

Doc pulling Ray for TA was a huge factor in the second half but the other big change was Big Baby who started grabbing every board on D. There was a -12 differential midway through the third and by the end of the game it was -3, thanks to Big Baby.
