Bill Walker considered to be a part of Knicks "team foundation" for the future

Despite Doc's proclamation on the rotation, I have a strong feeling that Nate will win at least one play-off game for us.

In terms of evaluating the trade, though, the question has got to be will Nate win more playoff games for us than Eddie would have, right?

Because if Eddie and Nate are even, that means we threw in Walker for free, which doesn't seem to be great value.

This is true, I think the gamble that Nate would add more than Eddie was justified.

I think Bill Walker and, to some extent, Nate are evidence of the messed up chemistry on this team and how Doc had handled it in almost completely the wrong way.  It's pretty clear that there's a conflict between the vets and the younger players over how the team should play and Doc has let it fester all season.

There were plenty of games where the vets were either banged up or giving crap effort and Walker, no matter how awful his defense, should have gotten some minutes.  Likewise, it seems obvious to me that Nate is feeling a lot of pressure to "fit in" when he's on the court, instead of being the offensive spark plug who comes in and tries to score in a hurry.  In both cases, Doc has refused to step in and take sides in this team's internal struggle.

I'm not any higher on Walker now that he has a chance to get minutes with the Knicks than I was when he didn't play for us.  In my opinion, he hasn't been that good with the Knicks, either.  He had a couple 20 point games early on, but he has leveled off.  The one thing that surprises me is his 3pt shooting, but his all around game is horrible.  He can't defend, pass, or rebound.  He's just not a very good player.

If Walker were making more than peanuts, I guarantee he'd be cut to free up even more cap space to land a free agent.

Just wanted to add that Scal was on the Foundation of this team. Does that make Scal a good player? No, it just made Scal a decent defender of mobile PFs that Danny overpaid and got stuck with after handing him a ridiculous contract.

I don't think Bill Walker's a dime a dozen.  He's an unusually one-dimensional player who's pretty good at that one dimension, which is finishing.  He finishes open looks  at a very high rate.  If he can ever develop into a passable defender/rebounder, he'll be a very valuable role player.

That the non-rebounding, defenseless Mike Finley is getting time when Walker couldn't is somewhat confusing.

1) Walker's not under contract next year. The team has an option on him. Same after next year;

2) You don't 'cut' guys in basketball. His salary counts the same if you do as if you keep him. This isn't football;

3) Mr. O, you're comments about swing players being a dime a dozen are a dime a dozen. Like a broken record. Do you ever say anything else about young SGs or SFs?
