I've been watching some old Celtics video and I think sometimes we really forget how good the captain is and, i think especially, was.  In light of Greg's latest post, I thought it fitting to post this video so we can all see how great Paul really was.  I find it unfortunate that no one talks about Pierce's performances around 2002-2005.  He was undeniably great.

I remember this game against philly vividly.  It was amazing performance.  If some of you have other videos, please post them.

I haven't forgot. Injuries slowed him down 2nd half of the season, but he is still playing great despite it. The beast will be unleashed soon.

TP for the video. I haven't forgotten. He's shown it every time he's been healthy this season but the problem is he's played injured too often. The trainers and coaches really do need to watch him as carefully as they do KG. From my favorite season and postseason:

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Wow those videos are ridiculous. He never had great hops but in his younger years his body control was impeccable. Some of those layups were SO HARD to make. Like wow.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

His younger years?

He was making those layups just 2 seasons ago.

That one video makes me miss the good ol' NBC intro of the 90's.

I remember that Crazy Dunk over Chris Bosh in the game in Boston this year..that Dunk came out of nowhere, too.

I think Truth still has something for us this post season. The man has had a Great Career here, but I would Love Just One More Ring...

I've never forgotten the greatness of our Captain or his abilities, (which is why he's always been my favorite player), and any kudos thrown his way earns TP's from me. That said, I don't think his "greatness" is gone, either. ;)

I've always thought that Paul Pierce was one of the most underrated players in the modern NBA. Perhaps it was because he couldn't jump out of the roof. And we all know that's what it takes for many people to notice you these days. He's been my favorite Celtic from the post Bird and real "Big Three" era.

Paul Pierce certainly has a playing style that ages well (never exerts too much energy, can beat you off of the dribble w/o going 100 mph, etc). Can't quite say the same about Iverson, though if he had remained in Philly and never had to play in Detroit for a year things may have gone differently for him. Two of the most exciting players to watch from that era, along with Vince Carter, T-Mac and Kevin Garnett.

There is a highlight video on Youtube of Allen Iverson (Philly era) putting up 33 and helping the 76ers beat the C's in triple-overtime so there have definitely been some great games between those two - whether on the All-Star team, the US National team or as opponents. It would be nice if AI could play for the Celtics with Rondo and maybe Nate before it's all said and done - as a bench scorer for only 3 games with the Grizzlies he was very effective and efficient and is a great passer/playmaker.

Just watched the video of Pierce hanging 46 on Iverson and the Sixers.

Man...I wish I had started paying attention to basketball before the last couple of years.

Hopefully Pierce can bust out at least one more big time 30+ point performance in the playoffs for us.

I look forward to these playoffs cause I think The Truth will turn the heat on and once again lead this team but this time along with Rondo instead of KG and Ray.
Paul is still a player any team would love to have in their starting five.
