next year's ROY Blake Griffin,
sorry, just wanted to comment on this.
you really think so? i doubt it. i think griffin would have gone 3rd or 4th if he had waited till this year to declare. He'll probably exceed my expectations if he averages a double double next season (or more than 12 ppg). he might not have even been the ROY this year considering Tyreke's historic 20/5/5 numbers.
John Wall / Evan Turner should be heavy favorites for ROY next season
I'm expecting Blake Griffin to average somewhere close to 20/10 and to do so efficiently too.
Evan Turner and John Wall should give strong competition though.
eh...I highly doubt that. Griffin is a good prospect but he'd have to be pretty spectacular to average 20 / 10 in his first season especially alongside Chris Kaman (who already scores and rebounds plenty).
I think Griffin is more effective offensively than Kaman. I think he'll be more efficient as a scorer. A superior option in the pick and roll/pop, has a better midrange jump shot, is far better in transition, far superior at drawing fouls and getting to the line, and, is a comparable finisher around the rim. I think Griffin will also be a better decision maker with the ball in his hands too.
Kaman is a twenty point scorer largely because the Clippers have a poor offense so he gets a lot of touches and shot attempts (16 per game -- 20th in league -- 18.4ppg on 15.8 FGAs and 3.9 FTAs a night). The Clippers are 26th in offensive efficiency and 23rd in TS%. I don't think Griffin have any problems getting touches on that squad. Especially considering how well he can play off of others (transition, pick and roll, finishing plays).
Rebounds aren't an issue with the Clippers because none of their perimeter players grab any. Both players will average close to ten rebounds in 35 minutes a night on that squad. Kaman and Gooden both average around 19.5 rebounds a night while Camby and Kaman combined to average more around 21 rebounds a night.
I think Blake Griffin is a ready made 20/10 player in terms of scoring ability and rebounding ability. However, I think his defense and his passing ability are dodgy and definitely works in progress.
Those were my expectations heading into this season. Unless his injury has seriously impacted his game, I see no reason to change them.
