all this talk about KG...what is Paul Pierce's excuse? i know he was injured but man he is nowhere near the level is was at last season or the year before.

if they go down 30 to the wiz at home....then i would just walk off the court if i were doc

Paul Pierce has looked almost as done as KG has.  It's really disturbing.  Last year he and Ray basically carried this team to 62 wins without KG.  This year Ray's had a hard time maintaining a consistent shot and Pierce has had trouble doing pretty much any of the stuff he used to do on a consistent basis (other than hitting spot up 3's).

boston would be a 6, 7 or 8 seed in the west...

there is NO WAY in the world this team is going to turn it on for the playoffs.

They are deluding themselves if they think they can flip a switch in a week. Im thinking the 1st round will be hard fought, like CHI last year, and making it out will take all they got. Round 2? Doubtful. Most doubtful.

me too. IF they get out of the first round...i expect the cavs series to be quick and painless

Our team defense was built around KG as the quick 4: it's not working anymore.  KG can still rebound, shoot, pass and defend the post against non-Shaqs, he just can't hedge and recover on quick, slashing jumpshooting 4s (of which there is an amazing variety nowadays) anymore.

That means adding a real 4 to the team instead of slogging forward with the a trio of slow, unathletic 5s as KG-complements.
If you switch Garnett to the five, which of the following types of power forwards would you like to see Boston try to go forward with:

(1) A prototypical power forward like Scola. Good body. Rebounds. Solid all-round game.

(2) A PF/C combo with good athleticism and mobility like Varejao. Someone who can defend top post scorers when necessary but otherwise will defend the four.

(3) An athletic defensive minded power forward like a Ty Thomas

(4) A combo forward like a Jeff Green or Thaddeus Young or who can stretch out the offense and create amazing spacing for Rondo to work with + force opposing team's centers to have to defend Garnett. Not just switch onto an offensively limited power forward and allow the quicker defender to take KG.

I'm undecided on which type of a power forward would be the ideal fit for Garnett at this point.

boy....i am having a hard time seeing this team even being a factor in the east next season. this team needs a complete makeover in a hurry. KG, PP look like they have zero left...Ray would be a great 6th man and we are already going to have to replace pretty much all of the bench next season...next season is looking scary

none. they look like a team playing out the last few games of the season. they look like the lottery team waiting for tee times instead of getting ready for the playoffs

Any of the first 3 sound acceptable to me.  Basically the Celtics need somebody who is fast, athletic, long, and energetic.  They need a player with length that can score consistently inside and rebound at a high rate.

They look like a team tanking for a draft spot.

We're pretty much stuck with this team more or less as is for the next couple of years, unless Danny manages to trade Perk for something.

From what I can see the defense looks like a walk-through at practice.
