Of course.

Think of how much that would offend Lakers fans, making it even better.

I would rather see Osama bin Laden in a Celtics uniform.

No, I wouldn't.  There are very few players that would cause me to take a temporary break from the team, but Kobe is one of them.

Not a fan of Kobe the person but his game is sublime. I am greedy for rings but I assume he would be a guy who I would never really feel a connection to as a fan.

But if the bottom line is a banner, then yeah I would want him.

For me though, he is different from other unlikable guys in the NBA like Verajao or Artest. Those kind of guys you can tell they would be good teammates but hated opponents. Kobe on the other hand is very selfish.

I mean I hated Posey before he was on the C's but I always knew he would be great to have on our side because of his spirit. Kobe would be good to have because of his basketball talent and nothing else.

If Kobe agreed to stop whining to the officials on every call, to stop ball hogging on every possession, and to stop his public facade and let the real Kobe out, I'd welcome him in green.

Definitely NO.

We better not try to gain any Lakers at all in any trade scenario.

LOL....Garnett?  Pierce??  Perk???  Wallace?????  You're talking about whining??????  We are by a longshot, the whiningest team in the NBA.

There was a similar discussion when Rivers' ineptitude pre-
Thibodeau made for all kinds of speculation of a replacement for Rivers.  When Laimbeer was mentioned, similar cries of blastphemy were heard.  I'd take Bryant in a heartbeat.

Bryant is the most talented player in the game and plays as hard as any player in the NBA at both ends of the court.  He's won championships with two completely different teams.  Unlike the messiah, he's not bleeding narcissism.

So if I am understanding you correctly, you'd prefer not having Kobe on the team whatsoever than having him for 1-year if it guaranteed a championship?  Just wondering.

I think a few people in this post mistook the original poster's intent.  This isn't a "if we could pursue a championship with Kobe", it has more to do with the palatability of a guaranteed championship.  If it were guaranteed then I see only individual fan egos getting in the way of it being for this.

It really is an interesting dynamic, but I for one want Championships as long as its done ethically.

You misunderstood the original poster.  He's not looking to acquire a Laker in a trade.

Ok, I'm not sure if I'd like Kobe even if it guaranteed a championship but...

The public facade thing sounds downright overrated. It almost sounds like "I don't like him SOO when he sounds likable, it means he's being fake".

And everyone whines about the refs, right or wrong. I'm not sure about you personally, but CelticsBlog seems to back KG just fine on his complaints on Wednesday's game.

Ballhog? Oh yeah.

Ok, all that said, I agree with wdleehi. I might feel my lunch want to comeback up after a while seeing Kobe in Green, but then get over it when the C's would win their hypothetical championship. Maybe.

no.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Yeah, I'm all set.  I'd consider it a dirty title (as Kobe is a rat of a person), and I wouldn't want to be a part of it, personally.  However, I expect most fans would disagree.

It's like saying "Would you want a rapist for a friend?" The answer is obvious. The day the Snake retires, I shall whip out a huge cigar, light it and think of Red.

Hmmm....I'm glad you were at his trial, ACF. I'm sure he wouldn't want a gossip flame thrower for a friend, either. If it wasn't a money hunt, there'd have been a trial.
