If Kobe = Championship for C's...Would you want him?

If it meant that you would get a championship out of it, would you want Kobe to wear green?

After thinking about it for a minute, I came to the conclusion that YES I would definitely do it.  Here's why:

1)  First and foremost, I want the Celtics to have as many championships as possible.

2)  Believe it or not, if we won with Kobe it would **** off Laker fans to no end!  

3)  I like watching high quality basketball, especially if its the C's.  I can appreciate it.  While I don't like Kobe Bryant at all, watching him play alongside KG (if healthy), etc would make for high quality entertainment.  This is the reason I can't stand watching college ball.

This might seem quite far-fetched but I think it would be even better if we could get Michael Jordan to play for us, but it could only happen if we were a very serious threat to win an NBA championship nearing the free-agency deadline because there is no way that we could expect him to play a full season at his age (first of all it would be terrible for his career stats).

The Lakers could also try and scout MJ because their coach is the great Phil Jackson, owner of 10 NBA rings and they have one of the most talented teams in the league. However two seasons ago we won 66 of our games so if either team was a threat to topple the 95-96 Bulls record for most season wins (I can't actually see that happening unless either we or the Lakers recruit LeBron James or something) then they could just get Michael Jordan to come out of retirement for them and be a role-player on their playoff squad. He could even start in some games depending on player match-ups but obviously he'd never be expected to play anywhere close to the minutes he was clocking with the Bulls or even the Wizards.

I remember him joking about the possibility of coming out of retirement again during his Hall of Fame speech - if he did there wouldn't be much point unless he came back to a team that was quality enough so that he wouldn't feel pressure to play outside of his comfort zone, if that makes any sense.

Yes.  I don't hate Kobe as much as most people.  I could care less about his off-court stuff, just like every athlete, and on the court, he is just a heck of a competitor, that I would not have much of a problem cheering for him.

Of course getting the Lakers stench off him would be a problem, but I would get over that quickly if a championship came in tow (even moreso, if it ended up sending the Lakers into a tailspin, where they were looking at Andrew Bynum as their star).

Kobe is a fun guy to hate...but if he were in Green, I would welcome him.

Yes - I don't hate Kobe nearly as much as I used to, I don't know if he's even in my Top 3 most hated Lakers (let's see, Vujacic, Odom...it's a horse race for third between Kobe, Fisher, and Adam Morrison's trash-stache).  You know he'll bring effort and intensity every night, and that he'll make the team better.

Plus, losing Kobe and then seeing him win a title with the C's is just about a worst-case scenario for Lakers fans, so there's that.

If by chance you are serious, have you seen Jordan lately?  He's easily 40+ pounds overweight, out of shape, and routinely loses in just team practice shootarounds.  He is not capable of ever playing competitively in the NBA... not to mention the fact that he's busy owning a franchise not named the Celtics.

Magic came back out of retirement after being diagnosed with AIDS so you never know - I did mention that I though the idea was quite far-fetched and as far as bringing Kobe here I for one would rather see Allen Iverson win his first ring as a Celtic - we could get him to replace Marquis Daniels as our bench sg, probably for much cheaper than his market value.

I'm always disgusted when people suggest former Lakers to be part of our team in our pursuit of a championship, particularly ones that had a relevant role in helping them win championships.

Overall I like Kobe, so I had no problems with him being a Celtic if circumstances were different. But no, Lakers are the devil and he has horns and a tail.
