It is interesting to me that both the Celtics and the Lakers lost to younger teams last night.  I did watch our game and yes, it was odd to see Durant getting more "respect" from the refs than KG or Pierce but it is also true that we did not play better than OK City.  The game could have gone either way based on a few whistles or us hitting a few more shots (or Green missing one of his 3's).

OK City is the 6 seed in the West.  We should be good enough that the game doesn't come down to a few bad calls.

The NBA rules sadly don't allow you to play defense on Free Throws.

OKC's has only one win less than us and one more loss than us.  In the West we would be in the 4th or 5th spot.  The West is much better than the East this year.

OKC is legit!

Then why do they need all that help from the Refs?

They are legit, but that doesn't mean, and I never said, they weren't given the game last night.

And I wasn't saying they weren't "legit". I was asking why a good team needs or wants help like that from the Refs? No wonder we have so many injuries when players are just allowed to hit and whack the Celtics with no calls. The no calls bother me worse that the phantom calls.

KG in particular is getting no respect from the officials. He's getting hammered with no calls coming his way. There were three or four possessions in a row down the stretch where KG was fouled and no whistle. He was also illegally screened on Green's second three pointer.

This is a trend that's been going on for a while. I don't know if his trash talking has caught up to him or what, but he get's no calls lately.

When we talk about Garnett getting star calls, I don't believe he got them for his play to speak of.  Where he got a free pass was for all of the trash talking that would have been called taunting had it been just about anybody else.  He changed a lot of games just with his antics...He changed many more with his play but a lot with his antics.

I think the respect factor with him from the officials is his own fault. He's flopping and grabbing his knee every time he's touched.  He's the polar opposite of the player he used to be.  Maybe his paranoia about his knee has made him soft.

Are you saying KG is a flopper?

I'm saying he has been this season.  Not in taking fouls but falling over every time he's fouled or "fouled".

He has taken some hard fouls this year...how do you not fall after that? He is not built like Shaq.

I don't think Kevin is a flopper but since the knee injury it has become obvious that he can't really be expected to to carry this team night in and out in the same manner that he was during his Timberwolves days.

That wouldn't be such a problem if, say Rondo or a bench player had enough offensive skills to keep our team in games so that the Big 3 wouldn't always be expected to do the majority of our scoring each night (see Chris Paul/Manu Ginobili). If we had something like this then it would obviously take alot of pressure off of the Big 3, though Pierce, Ray, and KG are all still capable of putting up at least 15 to 20 points each night.

I remember a point in Bird's career where is pat'd pump fake, foul, fall away jumper for 3 out of the blue was no longer fouls.  Again its another stern/nba/ref thing but he ALWAYS got that call as he should of since it was a foul.  He suddenly no longer got the call for an unknown reason, again this wasn't a single time, the entire move/foul call stopped.  I truly feel that someone in the media needs to go after the system.  bryant gumble?

In his book, Tim Donaghy talks about how on a regular basis, refs would get videos and memos before games that would point out a move made by a particular player or team and tell them to be on the look out for it and to clamp down on it.  Or maybe a move not to call like LeBron's crab dribble.  But that would explain why suddenly something that was always called now isn't called.

It's like in the NFL when a bunch of coaches said "Hey, Randy Moss is pushing off you better call that!" Then all the sudden he was called for it constantly even though most players do it ALL the time.

You might have also noticed: they've taken away KG's dream-shake fadeaway. He's not allowed to do it anymore, period. Despite the fact that it was legal for twelve years and he did it every game, its now supposedly a travel. That's according to these refs, David stern and their mutually idiotic standards and ideas. God I hate stupid people.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

We might also remember when Al Jefferson was a the next McHale and the C's sent some tape to the league so they'd stop calling a travel on him on one of his up-and-around-[step]-under moves...
