Have someone lay out Ginobli???  It seemed as if after he put that foul on KG that landed KG on the floor, the whole team seemd to tuck into a shell.  The Spurs absolutely set the tone with that, and it seemed very unlike us to not retaliate, and I would have loved to have seen it.  I'm sure it would have made Ginobli think twice about going to the rim so much.

There wasn't anything dirty on the play. Manu got mostly ball. It was just a case of two player going full speed in opposite directions and Manu doing it with balance and KG not. Things like that are going to happen. Manu seemed visibly concerned for KG as well. I don't think there was any bad intent there that would precipitate a response.

It was NOT just that play by Manu.  He was playing rather chippy that entire game and we had NO response.  I wish it was just that Perk was not playing, but we have played SOFT all year.  We "pie in the sky" Celtics' fans can deny it all we want to, but this is a Charmin SOFT team.  If we don't get that toughness back in the next two weeks, our team might be drying their collective tears with Charmin tissues after a quick exit.

Pie in the sky? That's not exactly I nice way to label some of our more positive posters.

And I don't think many people are denying that this team has played soft underneath or with a lack of conviction or effort.

First off, let me state that I am still a "positive" member but i just wanted to add to what you said. We are playing extremely soft and the lack of effort is disgusting. I was not watching basketball last night, I was watching the Celtics jack up shots and watch the ball bounce to the Spurs, play after play after play. There are three people I saw play with moderately consistent effort: KG (even though I saw him do his fair share of ball watching), TA, and Shelden. Something HAS to be done. We can't continue to play like this and I'm sick of hearing them say, "blah blah, it's just the regular season, blah blah, we're bored and stuff, blah blah." I hate to say this because I truly love this team but based upon some of the levels of effort I've seen given this season, this could be the most sorry Celtics team I've ever witnessed. They have so much talent yet they just choose not to care, not to play with any Celtic pride.

This team has a rude wake up call coming in the form of the playoffs if they keep this up (i.e. the lack of interest and energy).

Strangely enough, for me, I actually was pleased with the effort. The offense stalled, and was pretty bad all night.  As we Celtics fans say, as Rondo goes, the Celtics go?  In this case, take a look at Rondo's numbers: six points, seven assists, three rebounds, one steal, four turnovers.  Not bad, but significantly under his season averages.  Thus, the 73 point game for the Celtics.

The defense forced Tim Duncan to not take as many shots, but they couldn't hold off Ginobili's drives, so they couldn't limit the Spurs to the 80 point range.

I was screaming for a foul too, but after looking at the replay, I changed my mind.  It was a good call by the refs and a great block by Ginobili, as much as I hate to say it..

I'm not sure what you were watching when that play happened but it most definately was not a clean block or a great play.  Manu got mostly ball but the Spur on KG's right side (I think it was Hill) had a hand in his waist and clearly hits KG's right arm and follows through as Manu 'blocks' him.  It was Hill that committed the foul but KG gets absolutely no love from the refs anymore and that's why it was not called.  The Spurs were allowed to hit the shooters arm all night long with very few calls while the C's were getting touch fouls called on them.  That, coupled with the fact that the C's couldn't hit a shot to save their lives, is why they lost.

see attached image to witness the foul by Hill....I can't seem to get the image to post in the forum, so if somebody wants to do that it would be great.

TP! Thanks. That was clearly a foul when I saw it too. Not sure if it was dirty but it certainly was a hard foul/attempted block. What I wanted to see after that play was what I wanted to see the whole game. Inspired play. They didnt have it last night for whatever reason after the 1st quarter.

He got a lot of a on the play.  It also just led them to think they could push us around, and we had absolutely no retaliation.  I thought half of our team was supposed to be tough players who you don't want to attack the paint consistently against??

I'm just saying, we should have put a hit out for Ginobli to show them we weren't gona back down to that.
