Is it me? Am I wrong? Or am I right?

I'll admit, I was pretty pumped and excited when we got Sheed during the off season, but I don't know, even with this win against the Mavs, I can't see what he is giving the team... I'm not one to go and bash a player all the time, because I like to give them chances, in hopes they'll come around, but tonight, he was horrid.

He only had two points, playing 16 or so minutes, and just seemed so lazy and slow, and lackluster. I remember reading posts about him supposedly giving the team that lazy no effort bug, but geez, this is bad. I hope he does what he usually does, and fires it up in the playoffs, since he's been insinuating that's what he's waiting for.

The game wouldn't have been so close during those last 5 minutes of the game, if Sheed had been more into the game. He only had 3 ribs... I'm just happy to know that the C's can still win down the stretch even with Sheed stinking.

KG did a good job holding Dirk back, even if he still went 11-19.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT HE IS DOING FOR US????

Sheed is playing like he's 35. As long as he is defending and rebounding, everything else is gravy. I look forward to his play in the playoffs.

DIrk wouldn't let Sheed get the ball. I'm surprised Sheed didn't shoot 8 3's since he knew he couldn't post up.

He played ok defensively. It's not easy to defend someone in Dirk who can virtually shoot at will.

I agree with everything you said as far as reasoning, I just think he should have gone a long time ago ... in other words, I felt the way you do many weeks ago. (I'm complimenting your post, I just had enough of Sheed by the All-Star break). ;)

Yea, I had patience, and just hoped that it would come. When we lost, he had some blame.. But its sad that I can put blame on him even on a win, because I saw how he was playing. I REALLY do hope I can eat my words, and that Sheed will play so great come the playoffs, but I just can't take right now... I need more from him. I'm just glad that Doc has (seemingly) spoken to him about his over the top jacked three's because I haven't seen them too much lately...

are you kidding, I love Rasheed  :P

We all knew what we were getting when we brought Rasheed in from Detroit, I mean the infamous picture from a press conference with Rasheed in 'Allen Iverson style' braids sitting next to the Big 3 and Danny Ainge (Ainge donning perhaps the most uncomfortable, stressed look on his face) should have given you some sort of insight into what kind of a player Rasheed is. Yeah he may be good enough to start on the Celtics but like other players have mentioned he's getting older.

While still prone to racking up technical fouls one can't argue that he can still flat-out play; I mean he's from the Detroit Piston's squad that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals 5 years in a row so he still has some of that 'heavyweight' swagger in him...

...still think it's a shame that the Celtics picked up only Rasheed because AI was definitely desperate to get out of Detroit as well after they were man-handled by the Cavs in the first round of the playoffs last year. We could have gotten Allen Iverson for relatively cheap this season (probably even cheaper next season), but either way the Celtics definitely still have loads of talent from their starters to their bench going into this year's playoffs.

TP for you!

That would be nice, but the problem is he only uses it as a last resort ... he also doesn't move his feet or get his hands up on defense, won't get in the lane to take a charge, is slow to rotate on help defense, rarely gets to the weak-side for a rebound, and will NOT stop launching those three-point bricks to save his life. (He hasn't received any "T"'s lately, so maybe he's learned to not run his mouth at the refs, though I doubt it). And WHEN was the last time he went to the floor for a loose ball? I honestly can't remember him doing that, though I'm sure he MUST have at least once or twice this year. Every time he comes on the floor, the other players on his team are struggling to cover for his defensive assignments ... that shouldn't be happening for a veteran player.

We had a very sucky offseason, and picking up Sheed only does make me cringe when I think about it. I agree with you though, he was a apart of the Pistons team that was able to go to the ECF for 5-6 years in a row. I became a fan of basketball in March 2004, to the Pistons. Billups and Hamilton were my favorite, and then when they got Sheed, he grew on me, and his spunk and attitude became something enjoying. He was able to hit his three's and play with intensity, if I can remember clearly.

But I know age, and boredom can do what it is doing to him. I just wish he would stop doing the whole "waiting for the playoffs" thing. Because he had that same exact mentality when he was in Detroit. I remember the quotes, and articles with us playing Detroit in 2008, and other times before, with speculation on that very "wait for playoffs" attitude.

Nonetheless, I like his character, but I just wish he'd stop being bored, and show it on the floor, and take those chances to wait for the playoffs. And about AI, I can't see how he'd come here, seeing as to how he gave Detroit a fit about playing off the bench behind Ray, but then again, there were talks before this season about letting Ray come off the bench.. so who knows?

Personally, I'd take the energy and hustle of a Glen Davis over the lazy half-efforts of a veteran like Sheed any day. His "swagger" comes from the attitude that he's paid his dues and no longer has to work on the floor ... he has said openly that if he's open, he'll take the three every time, the only problem is his percentage of late is horrible, and the opponent doesn't need to defend him on the perimeter, so they can double-down on Pierce or KG or whoever the current threat is, (which is never Sheed). Yes, we knew what we were getting when Sheed came here, and that's exactly what he's giving us ... which is precisely why that money should've been spent elsewhere, IMVHO.

Well, I guess Rasheed serves as kind of a buffer if Allen Iverson were to come to the Celtics next season. Rasheed Wallace understands the team concept better than Allen does from playing with the Pistons back when they were the cream of the crop of the Eastern Conference. Also, Rasheed has won a ring while Allen Iverson has won mainly individual achievements (3 scoring titles, league and All-Star game MVP, steals leader, etc).

If A.I. came out of retirement next season he would have to realize that at this stage of his career he can't expect to score at his old clip and should be trying to get on a championship contending team. The year Allen was traded to Detroit I remember him cutting off his braids while he was there so Rasheed signing to the Celtics with braids might have been some sort of 'inside joke' but who knows...
