Justified is a new show starting tonight on FX, and it looks to be badass. It stars Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood, Hitman, Damages, Live Free or Die Hard) and Walton Goggins (The Shield).

Quote
U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is a modern day 19th century-style lawman, enforcing his brand of justice in a way that puts a target on his back with criminals and places him at odds with his bosses in the Marshal service. That conflict results in a reassignment for Givens to the U.S. District covering the town where he grew up. He is an anachronism - a tough, soft spoken gentleman who finds his quarry fascinating, but never gives an inch. Dig under his placid skin and you'll find an angry man who grew up hard in rural Kentucky, with an outlaw father, who knows a lot more about who he doesn't want to be than who he really is. Yeah I'm a big Tim O fan too, ever since Girl Next Door. Deadwood is my second favorite TV series behind the wire.

Big fan of his also, and also I really liked Walton Goggins in The Shield. I thought he should had won a lot of awards in a supporting role capacity, particularly for the last 2 or 3 seasons. He was excellent and was eternally snubbed.

Very solid debut.  I'll be watching next week, for sure.

Saw it. Loved it. Pretty much he just plays Seth Bullock in this time. That's fine with me though, as I liked Seth Bullock too.

Just watched it, and liked it also. A bit disappointed that Goggins seems to be only in this one episode... I thought he would be for at least the first season.

He hasn't been confirmed dead yet right? So he might return, or am I mistaken here?

Anyways, will have to wait a couple of more episodes to see where this series is heading and what its nature will be. But good start.

In other news, the premiere had the second best ratings for a premiere ever in FX, I think The Shield has the best ratings, so things looking good so far.

People love a good lawman.

Surprised actually that we didn't get a show like this after No Country For Old Men

I'm assuming that he'll be back.

EDIT:  imdb.com has him appearing in at least four episodes this season.

they made a huge point at the end to show that he only got shot in the stomach and that he missed his heart "by accident".  They showed him alive in the hospital before the credits rolled.

I had noticed, but imdb often has those casting information for future episodes wrong, so I don't completely trust them.

I missed that apparently. I thought I had heard that he had actually been shot in the heart (which I thought was weird since it didn't fit what I actually saw).

But oh well, hope he comes back in any case.

They had him in the trailer for the rest of the season after the episode concluded

Yeah, I'm definitely liking the vibe of the show so far.  The only downside is that it makes me miss Deadwood.
