I don't think the fan base is as fickle as it seems.

We nutjobs are just more likely to post here. There are plenty of far saner fans who either read without posting, or don't read the blog.

I expect that if we did a study, we would find a correlation between being judgmental and forum posting.

All this forum right here is proving Mike Bibby right when he called the majority of us bandwaggon jumpers.  Gotta have some faith here guys.
Having an opinion that's not always positive won't make you a bandwagon jumper. You have to care to have a bad opinion about something like this.

That said I do not think this team is pathetic.

This is the second time in a week I have seen the band wagon fan accusation used with the Mike Bibby reference

I don't like it

If people have different views about the team than others it really isn't right to label them bandwagon fans no matter how cutely you disguise the fact that you are doing it, you are still doing it

I don't necessarily agree with some of the people who are see only championships out of this team and I don't necessarily agree with those who see doom and gloom but I know they post here a lot and are passionate in their views and are FANS of the Boston Celtics

Can we please not be insulting people by labeling them bandwagon fans

I find that term distasteful and really not very nice

LOL. I can't believe people are really debating whether or not the team is "pathetic". It's an insane idea that a team that is 40-21 in one of the most competitive NBA situations in recent memory is "pathetic". Why don't you go ask the coaches and GM's across the league if the C's are "pathetic". The Knicks are pathetic. The Wiz with Butler and Jamison were pathetic. Stop with this ridiculous nonsense...

I'd agree that the thread title is a bit over the top.

But if you look at the rest of the thread, that's not really what we're debating.

A "bit" over the top? LOL. It's asanine. I'm not sure what it is that we're debating then. That the C's aren't playing at 100% every night? I think that's obvious. What's up for debate I guess is should we be jumping out of windows yet? Come on, there's still over 20 games to go and we're 8-3 since the ASB. Hang on guys..

Well, some might argue that the C's not giving 100% effort every night is pathetic.

I am not sitting here saying this team is not going to win a championship, because I do not necessarily believe that.  However, gun to my head, I find it a bit pathetic that these guys cannot focus for 82 games...or 62 games even.

Now, that's certainly not fair, because no team gives 100% every night.  But a lot of teams give a whole lot more effort and focus than this C's team has this season.

That's kind of what was at the center of what me and BC were talking about. My gripe is that the boys look for excuses more often than I like, and more often than they have in the past.

Which teams are those? We haven't had the same lineup for more than a couple of games in a row since Xmas and there's only 3 teams in the league with fewer losses than us.

Effort is not measured by wins and losses.  This team is one of the top 2-3 most talented teams in the league, therefore, their record shows that, whether they are always trying or not.

Off the top of my head, I would say that Milwaukee, OKC, Memphis, and Cleveland all have given more consistent effort than this C's team.

But honestly, that doesn't matter to me.  I don't care about comparing teams effort, I care about the effort the C's give.  And if it is not 100%, then I am disappointed.

They're one of the top 2-3 teams in the league when healthy, which they haven't been for long stretches. Some of it's effort but a lot of it is cohesiveness and momentum.

I'm not angry with this team.
They 're doing all what can they give.
They are old,so they can't waste energy for the regular season, their goal is to arrive fine in postseason with a decent record.
So if they're second, third or four in regular season, is ok,is not changing so much our life.
is sure we'r going to face Cavs and one between ORL or ATL.

Yes, some of it is effort, which I don't think seperates them from the rest of the league. Be as disappointed as you like. Is that any harder to understand?
