While I don't agree with the title of this thread, the Celtics played poorly tonight and escaped with a win, at home, against a very bad team. If they play like this Tuesday night in Milwaukee they will get their doors blown off. Other than the final six minutes, little to nothing in this game represented anything positive for the Celtics. To me it's the same old same old -- the Wizards have some athletic players and it's tough for the Celtics to keep up -- even if the team they are playing is horrendous.

50/50 this team even makes it out of the first round.

Be shocked if they make the ECFs.

Oh well... it was still worth the 1-2 year ride we got out of this bunch (plus the Chicago series). Was nice to be back on top, and even nicer to brutalize the Lakers the way we did.

Hopefully, we get a nice series or two this spring and don't take as long to rebuild this time.

Well it all depends on match ups. I would feel much better with a first round with say milwakee or Miami and semis with Orlando than say first round with chicago or Charlotte and a second round with Atlanta or the Lebrons.

True dat... and most of the posibl 1st round matchups look a lot better than what we got the last two years.

But suffice to say, we haven't played very well since XMas (17-16?) and are probably no longer better than your average EC team at this point. The idea that we would possibly beat 3 out of Atlanta/Orlando/Cleveland/Lakers to win #18 is IMO pretty far-fetched at this point.

Well it does and it doesn't, to get to the NBA finals, we're probably going to have to beat 2 out of the group of Orlando, Cavs and ATL.  Also, I want to stay far away from Miami.  I'll face Chicago or Charlotte, but keep me away from Team Wade.  He's the kind of player that can take over a playoff series.  Ultimately though, you have to go through the best teams win no matter what.
do it

ummmmm.....we won :-\

yes we played poorly against a poor team, but im happy that we sucked it up and got it done in the last few minutes.

its one thing to vent and be frustrated and its another thing to be over the top negative.  lots of these types of posts genuinely leave the vibe that they want the team to lose.

just my interpretation.

Agree with ya, DL ... again. As I said in another thread, the most difficult way to win a game is coming from behind after you have sucked for 3 1/2 quarters ... this win shows a lot of guts and determination. It would have been extremely easy to roll over and play dead in this one, but they turned it on and swam against the tide, and showed that they can take responsibility for their own destiny. Well done, Celtics. (By the way, we're 8/3 since the All-Star break and have won four-in-a-row, average win-margin is 7.77 with two twenty-plus blowouts ... not bad).

Dudes, I'm a noob here, but I know this much... it is just not as fun to watch teams on the way down as it is on the way up.

We traded most of the farm for Ray and KG, and any rational person knew that this gave us 1-2 years to legitimately contend, and maybe a third season to somehow sneak through by the will of God.

WE GOT A TITLE OUT OF IT.

Against the Lakers, no less. And it was AWESOME.

When KG came down like that last year and his hand went up for the sub right away, that was the end of us winning titles with this squad. Doesn't matter if you are glass half-full or half-empty, because that was just reality and your hopes and dreams mean nothing.

I take a glass half-there approach and say that I love this team and what they did, and that it is all over now.

I have to say, though... I do understand the frustration of watching us play so far under our abilities since XMas, and that I resent the notion that being a pollyanna about about non-existent championship aspirations makes you a better fan/person.

Get a grip and get over yourselves.

KG is done and this team is going nowhere.

Washington played out of their minds, and we were stone cold, for the first 3 quarters. Unlike in January and Feb, we somehow found the resolve, thanks in large part to Ray's hot hand. I was resigned to a loss when we fell down by 13 or so in the 4th. I thought this was an impressive comeback.  KG had one of his set back nights, but I have seen this before, and feel he will bounce back the next game.

Glad they won, but that was a pretty crappy effort for much of the game against a crappy team.

Who says Washington is a crappy team? They did the best job of any team at the trading deadline and have a nice young nucleus of Andre Blatch, Al Thorton, and Randy Foye to build around. If they can find some way to keep Gilbert Arenas from coming back they will be all right. Besides, the Celtics did comeback and win a game. At least give the Celtics some credit for not being quitters. OK, you Pathetic Fellowship, leave us alone!!!

To answer that question.  ME.  I said they were crappy.

I give the C's a ton of credit for coming back and winning the game, and I was pulling for them to do so.  I was as excited for Ray hitting big 3's as anyone.  I don't necessarily agree with the OP's opinion in the big picture, that this team is "pathetic", but at the time it was posted they were playing as poorly as they have all year, and that is saying something.

Yup

Kind of difficult to say that Washington isn't a crappy team

They are quite different than the team that started the season and maybe that threw off the Boston's players a bit after having played a very different type team for so long

But different or not the results are pretty much the same

They lose and play pretty poorly
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

The game was pathetic. About as entertaining as a soccer game ;)
I think KG must have missed his nap yesterday.
But all's well that ends well. Not the greatest strategy to coast for 42 minutes and then hope that Ray can hit a bunch of threes, but it worked last night.
I think the record is now 40-21. Not bad for a bunch of injured, lazy old farts!
So, in other words, no the team is not pathetic.

Today makes me feel like a fan again. Finally.

Realized that I love this team, and I hate that some people talk down our team in such a horrible way. A fan is supposed to be objective while still loving the team.

A lot of people in this thread don't love this team.

How many times has this team tried to flip the switch and the power didn't come on? Many more times than last night. This team's home record is not nearly what it should be. They have allowed too many poor to avg. teams come into TD Garden and leave with a W. The C's will not be feared at home like in years past with this core group.

Blowing leads to the Fakers, Tragic, Dirty Birds and others at home is not a Championship formula.

I'm glad we won, but my original statement stands. This team needs to make a statement. Coming from behind when The Wiz blow a 13 point lead late and sqweaking out a W is not making a statement Blowing teams out at home is the way you make a statement.
