The only actual difference between the haters here and Laker fans, is that these guys say they are Celtic fans.

Imagine a couple of Laker fans, coming to this forum, opening topics saying "This team sucks, they're done" etc. Would that be allowed? Well?

I don't know that I agree with this. People are allowed to be critical and some are just so frustrated that they freak out. To be honest here, they haven't exactly lit it up this year and it stinks because we were so spoiled the last couple of years. People have different ways of dealing with their frustrations, but that doesn't mean that half of this blog 'hates' the Celtics just because they aren't 110% confident we are going to win it all this year.
Yeh, but still I think some words that are used here aren't fair.

I think you're pathetic tbh.

(I don't, I just hope that triggered a feeling in you so that you might understand what I mean... I respect you ofc, and TP for discussing with me in a normal matter. Appreciated.)

I'm glad they won, too, but as Jeff wrote on the front page, the Celtics were pathetic throughout most of this game and they were lucky to be facing a team of former bench players who wilted under pressure.

Do not label fellow posters in a way that is likely to provoke a negative response.  Dependent upon context, examples include, but are not limited to, "fake fan", "bandwagon fan", "not a real fan", "hater", "homer", "koolaid drinker", etc.
Alright.

But what if some Laker fan would come over here and started downright insulting our team. What would that get him? A temporary ban or an instant lifelong one?

Roy, let me put it this way;
A lot of us are big fans, and we love our team. Imagine loving something a lot. Or actually, someone.

Imagine me calling him or her "pathetic".

Or opening a topic "*name* is Pathetic!".

What would that do to you? I think half of the posts here are provoking. They call that trolling or baiting, I think, and on some forums there are rules against it.

Why don't we have that? Isn't it a good idea? You've seen a couple of game-threads that were actually positive and a large part of the user-base was happy with that. Why not go for that?

There's a difference between trolling / baiting and being legitimately frustrated.  I have little doubt that some of the "negative" folks here enjoy baiting our membership, and we do our best to curtail behavior like that.  However, at the same time, there are plenty of real fans who get fed up by the lack of effort.  I mean, Danny, Doc, Pierce, Perk, Rasheed, Rondo, etc., have all expressed displeasure with this team's effort from time to time.  We don't censor on viewpoint here, even though on a personal level I agree that the "venting" threads are tedious and lack perspective.

The thing is there is a difference between being very critical of the team and just flat-out trolling.

If a Laker fan comes on here and starts posting things, its going to be held to a different standard than a poster who is a Celtics fan coming on and being critical of the team.  Call it a double standard or whatever but we're gonna judge things differently depending on the poster's background.  I think the staff does a good job on the recognization of this issue.

People have been critical against the team and its been totally acceptable.  We're not going to moderate against that.  Part of being a fan is being tied up with the team and each fan reacts differently to the highs & lows of the season.  Some people vent more loudly than others, some have a more "glass half empty" outlook, some are even reactionary to every little moment.
People are different and take each moment differently.

I said in the second quarter in the chat that "This team sucks"

When the team was making Al Thornton look like a chubbier bigger allen iverson, I said this team sucks.

When the Celtics were turning over the ball like they all washed their hands with crisco, I said this team sucks. Actually i said "dskjgndkbejknbkjd", but that means this team sucks.

When Javall McGee looked like Deke Mutumbo with Gerald Green's face, I said this team sucks.

When Andray Blatche was ROUTINELY destroying Garnett in the first half, I was disgusted. Just absolutely disgusted.

I was disgusted because I believe this team is better. They proved they could play better in the fourth. Why did they wait until then? Why do I ALWAYS feel since pretty much Christmas that this team is holding back?

Doesn't make me pathetic to think these things, doesn't mean I don't love the team.

Kiorrik's point is well taken and it's why I tried to start the whole separate game thread thing that really didn't go anywhere

The game threads were infested with people who clearly were NOT there to cheer on their team but to demean them because they weren't living up to those fans expectations

Now recently, over the last 3-4 game threads, many of those fans didn't participate and the mood and tone of the thread were quite different

Tonight, the comeback stopped what looked like was going to become something quite frustrating to read through because a couple of those fans returned

Then this thread popped up

Alas, a bit prematurely as I pointed out it might have been

But I think Kiorrik has a point about certain fans here as they almost never speak well of the team and are amongst the loudest and most often to post in the game threads and Celtic related threads when things are not great

I definitely am of the opinion that many of these fans are fans but just might be very negative, half glass empty(okay mostly empty) type of people who look at everything in life in that vein

So they look at this team that way

I'm not sure it doesn't make them fans

It just makes them fans I would never hang out with or want to have a conversation with while watching a game

And unfortunately those fans skirt around the letter of the law here and are therefore allowed to stay, and should stay, because as long as they don't break the rules, it's okay

In regular Celtic related threads I will post some responses of their stuff but mostly ignore them

In the game threads, it gets tough not to respond when the emotions are pumping, hence why I wanted the separate game threads but again, that didn't take off

I understand negativity. I dont really have a problem with thinking that way even though I myself am a hopeless optimist.

I just cannot understand people harping on the same negative points over and over again while never taking a break to appreciate whats good about the team, at least not on this board. It really feels like some posters actually want them to fail so they are proven right.

We need a +- system where you can vote on whether a post is positive or negative, and then let everyone vote on each post. Also, I want to be able to view everything in between 30 and 100% positivity so that I can ignore those 2% of people that try to take the fun out of the game for others and just try to provoke for the sake of provoking.

Right. The above paragraph was obviously my way of saying: I think people that do nothing but post hateful posts are, hey, PATHETIC!

There ya go. That should be allowed then too, shouldn't it?

Dunno, it felt wrong to me, but I'm angry atm at the way they speak about the team that... well, I love them.

I would tend to agree that this threads title is a little bit over the top with the negativity that borders on baiting. Its one thing to say we played horrible, lackluster, your disappointed etc. However, just saying the team as a whole is a pathetic and a waste isn't exactly constructive or adding anything to the forum. Am I getting close to reality with that?

I agree with the pathetic part...but I hate LA and Cavs. Does that count?  ;)

Someone here called me naive for still believing in this team. Honestly, I felt good when they said that....I know I will get to prove them wrong...just like tonight  ;D

Well I mean, I know the game threads can be dangerous territory, but if the thread title is so offensive to you I'd say just avoid it.

Glad they won, but that was a pretty crappy effort for much of the game against a crappy team.

Who says Washington is a crappy team?

Are you really asking this?

In addition to being 21-39 on the season with a -4.0 point differential, since you asserted they had the best trade deadline performance of any team, it bears noting that they have dominated to the tune of 3-6 since the deadline - a winning percentage right in line (albeit slightly lower) than what they've done for the year.

That isn't to *necessarily* refute your claim about the value of the work at the deadline.  That work wasn't for this year, and judging it on the following nine games would have about as much merit as claiming the team isn't currently "crappy."  While I'm not sure how thrilled I'd be about the Foye-Thornton-Blatche nucleus you referred to, what the long term holds is anyone's guess.

But as for right now, based on just about any objective measure (did I mention they're 22nd in offensive and defensive efficiency?), the term Redz used is about as accurate as any to describe the Wiz.
