Is he big enough to do Posey's role from two years ago?

No.

I wouldn't expect more then a SG/SF that can hit an open shot and play in that 10-15 minute range.

Which is fine for a 14th man on the roster.

He's not better than any of the top 4 of our SG/SF options, but he's a decent guy to have around just in case.

when Doc needs someone safe who can hit a shot if called upon, he'll take Tony's minutes

when he needs someone to play defense and be athletic, I hope he'll stick with Tony
That might turn out to be the problem,Doc making the correct call when necessary...but lets hope not, right?

I hope Tony stays ahead of him in the rotation too. Tony when he's playing well is a much better option. Having Finley around is good insurance in case Tony's having one of his turnover happy out of control games.

I think overall, Tony has been quite decent during the playoffs, I'm comfortable with giving him some minutes in there. He's not going to get a lot minutes anyways. I'll say this, if we're just going to insert a player for short minutes, Finley might be a better fit, unless it's a defensive assignment we might need.

Yeah Finley allows us to have an offensive 2 that we can play instead of Tony. Still he's pretty much cooked at this point.

agreed, finley is a good vet but i think at this point he'll hurt us on defense so he should be on the list behind daniels & ta

Has anyone noticed how WIDE open Daniels has been beyond the 3 point line since we got Nate?...and he stinks at shooting 3's...Finley can actually hit a 3.

Wow...TP

I wrote off the addition as simply an emergency insurance policy. But now that you mention it...

Daniels has been wide open every time Nate does something with the ball (especially off a screen). It would be great to sub in Finley for TA and have Finley sit the corner to space the floor and hit open shots.

We already know he's a great locker room guy. It'd be a nice bonus to have some extra composure and leadership for the team.

Yeah TA is certainly the better player at this stage in both their careers, but i think Doc will enjoy the option of deploying Finley for the occasional few minutes with either the starters or 2nd team instead of Daniels/TA because if Finley contributes to this team it's going to be because he is able to knock down open three's off of kick-outs.

Just curious - why did Finley fall out of Pop's rotation in SA? I know he's had a tough year shooting the ball but you'd think Pop would want a guy like that come playoff time.

Numbers.

Hill and Bogans starting.

Manu and Jefferson off the bench.

No but he is a true 3. We only have onre true 3: PP. Finley is also a 3. That should be a good thing. making us at least two deep at every postion. Well I guess we only have on true 5. Maybe that last spot will be for a true 5, hard to come by.....

We lack youth and athleticism and we're signing a guy who lacks both and looks done?

More importantly than youth and athleticism, we lacked a bench wing that can shoot.

The more and more I think about it, the more Danny may look like a Genius!
Here's why: House was really 1 dimensional, 3pt and that's it! (i still love House but, he played matador type defense). Danny trades to get Nate, who more of a slasher, mid-range shooter, who is lightning fast. But put him on the court with TA and Quis and you virtually have 3 slashers. The defense will most likely collapse on all their drives, daring them to shoot outside.
However, with the addition of Michael - I know the guy is OLD, it brings some sort of stability to inside/outside game. He will be called upon to hit the long 2 or 3 with Nate and Quis on the floor.
Did Danny see this coming?

I think Marquis' most natural position is the 3, honestly.

not crazy about this signing. i think i'm in the minority here but i think he's an unusually bad decision maker and not convinced he'll be a good soldier. we'll see.

If this turns out to be the case he won't play. It's pretty much a no lose situation.
