We lack youth and athleticism and we're signing a guy who lacks both and looks done?
We don't lack these things on the bench.

Also, youth doesn't actually contribute anything per se.

It'd be nice if this worked out like Cassel did in 08
What did Cassel do?

What did Cassel do?

Hit some big shots, mentored Rondo and did everything a veteran player should

I could make our team on a NBA JAM game on the Super Nintendo.

Sad but true
Back to wanting Joe fired.

More importantly than youth and athleticism, we lacked a bench wing that can shoot.

I see what you're saying.  It is pretty amazing how time flies.

I remember following Shaq, Webber, Iverson, Camby, Kidd, Mashburn, G. Robinson, etc... all tearing it up in college during my pre-teen/early teen years and thinking the world of them.  Now all these guys are either retired or have their basketball careers winding down.  It's amazing how time flies.

The first "time flies, holy cow" moment that really stuck with me for some reason was when Bledsoe retired.  I remember hearing about this gunslinger from Washington State and the whole Mirer/Bledsoe debate.  His rookie year woes and his coming out party in year 2.  Guy played 13-14 years in the NFL.  Just wow.

This is good with me. I hated seeing Marquis and Tony on the floor at the same time. Only problem is Nate needs at least 20 minutes a game.

I know what you mean about time flying, we're practically a retirement home for 1990s All-Stars at this point.

I think the thing that always gets me is that the closest major NBA player to my age and birthday is Kobe Bryant.  As much as I've hated the guy, he made a big splash coming out just as I was graduating high school, and since then he's always kinda been my NBA barometer for my age.  And Kobe's starting to slip just a bit...makes me feel old.  Good thing pretty much everything else peaks later than basketball ability.

See, if he left SA because of not getting enough minutes there, why come here to sit?  I feel like he's gonna have to be a significant part of the rotation or they wouldn't've gotten him.

He's by all accounts a terrific locker room guy, but I hope this doesn't affect our chemistry going forward.  Nate didn't take anybody's minutes who was still here...

Maybe some bench competition is what we need.  Let them fight for their minutes.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I actually became a Garnett fan because when I was in 5th grade, I remember a friend inviting me over to player SNES basketball game. And since I knew nothing of basketball, I picked the Timberwolves b/c their logo looked cool. The name "Garnett" stuck in my head and I ended up remembering him in highschool when I started watching bball religiously.
But yeah. Sad to see how the stars of the ol'days can be on the same team now as veteran stars with alotta age.
Can't stop, Rondo!

So I read that there was mutual interest two years ago, but he chose to go with the Spurs. I remember him being on my personal list of great targets to go after. Darn
Two years later, two years older...He can still make an impact as another shooter on the floor. Great Ray/Pierce insurance and a better option at the SG than Quis or Tony. Let Quis and Tony fight over minutes, b/c that's whats going to happen.Bet Tony gets the short end of the stick and starts playing Scal minutes again.
Can't stop, Rondo!
