I'm just confused why he hasn't played at all for SA this season and why they waived him. How is he going to take minutes from TA or get any minutes if he was just waived by a team that is worse than us. Also he is not going to be able to play SG anyway so the only player he could really take minutes away is Quis at SF. I guess he is insurance but if he sees the court when everyone is healthy that is not a good thing. Unless you love Rasheed's 3 point shooting and want another guy shooting them at the same clip then i wouldn't be getting too excited.

He was waived because he requested it, not because the Spurs didn't want him.  He lost his starting job early in the season, but was still getting solid playing time.  Then, he was injured and when he came back, he wasn't immediately re-inserted into his old spot in the rotation and found himself in more of a Scal-like spot-duty role.

If nothing else, I read that the Lakers were interested in him, so denying them Finley works for me.

he's completely washed up.  We would have been better off signing a guy from the D-League

Maybe...but Doc will not play any D-league player we sign. With Finley we atleast have a hit-or-miss scenario.

Kind of surprises me that he would come here since the stated reason for him asking out of SA was the fact he was not getting minutes. So, either he is going to get more minutes here, or he wants to come here because he believes the C's ahve a chance to win it all. And, they were the only contender that approached him.

I am not too worried about Finley taking anyone's spot or minutes. I think it's a decent pickup considering the scraps out there but the best thing he brings is NBA Championship winning experience. (eg. Sam Cassell)
This may be the best reason I've heard for signing him - certainly the only compelling reason. Winning a championship is a journey and no two championship journeys are the same. The more different championship experiences we have on the team, the better. It's part of the reason I still like the Sheed signing - he brings his own championship experience to the table.

I could see Finley hitting some big shots in spot playoff minutes, so that can't be discounted.

But if not for the reasons above, there's not much reason to sign the guy...

TP. Good point about multiple championship journeys. This is a solid safe pickup.

The C's can go chase D-Leaguers when they want to fill up summer leagues and camps.

Seems like minutes won't be a problem.

This is good news.  We need useful bodies.  He's on the old side, but he's experienced in playoff situations and this is insurance.

Who is Finley replacing ?

Look I see a lot of you saying that Finley will have little impact on this team but I think he will have more then you think.  I am guessing that he is either taking all of TA Minutes or Daniels.  Reason for that is why would he ask to be bought out in SA to be in the same spot here,  that does not make sence.  So whos minutes does he take ?

Hopefully he'll be a little bit better than Scal cause thats the type of player I feel like we are getting now. Maybe he will surprise us though. I just hope he doesn't get any PT over TA or Daniels unless they are doing real bad or for spot duty. Plus I really don't see Finley being able to play SG right now

no one , he will be put in for shooting if needed for maybe 5 - 10 mins a game. If we need defense TA will play. Daniels mins won't change .
