There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

So he can still sign with us and be in the playoffs.

Hey, if the Celtics want him, go for him.

IMO Michael took a diminished role when he didn't quite need to yet. At this point he's definitely just a role player, but he still has it in him.

Finley has been an iron man his whole career up until this year, and since he came back on January 31st his role has been very unclear. If we could bring in Finley now, let him get caught up, and then have him give us a good 10-15 minutes in the playoffs... i think that's some good stuff right there.

The backup unit with TA and Marquis in at the same time is letting teams back-off on the wings and deny the ball in the post. If Finley could play with either of them it would stretch the floor and really help out guys like Nate who need space out there.

Sounds like Finley is the best guy available from the waiver wire this year.  Couldn't hurt to try to sign him.  Our second unit could use the 3 point shooting now that Eddie is gone.

I've changed my mind. I don't think the Celtics should pursue Michael Finley.

Finley requested to be waived from the Spurs because he was unhappy with the playing time he received. He wants a consistent rotation role and I am wholly uncomfortable with that. I think that hurts the Celtics rather than helps them.

Finley is not a suitable target.

The Spurs have Ginobili and Jefferson coming off the bench. I don't know what role he wants, but he was slated to get 0 minutes til the rest of the season.

On the other hand, what worries me is that the Spurs chose to start Keith Bogans after moving Jefferson to the bench, which doesn't really speak well for Finley's ability to contribute.

I agree. The main reason is he wants to play 15-20 minutes per game. I don't know how that happens on the Celtics.

He won't be happy here either because he won't get the minutes. However, he would be great signing because he fits the team's profile -- he turns 37 Saturday  :D

Well, I think they should at least talk to him.  I agree that they can't give him a full-time roll, but they could give him more than he had in San Antonio (DNP-CD).  If he would prefer to go to a place like Charlotte, and be in the rotation, good for him.  But its worth a shot.  It's not like he is a bad chemistry guy.

They have Jefferson, Ginobili, Bogans and Mason in front of him.  It was a matter of numbers.

I disagree...if Finley had much left in the tank he would have been a part of the regular rotation as in the past, and especially ahead of Bogans and Mason.I think averaging 3pts.in 15minutes a game has something to do with it,when you are suppose to be a sharp shooter that comes in and gives the team a boost.

Well, a big part of the problem was that Finley was injured for a while, and it wasn't until he came back that he was completely out of the rotation.

Honestly, I am not sure what Finley has left.  All I know is that last year, he DID have something left in the tank, and I also know that Bogans has played well this year, and Mason is a very good player as well, so losing minutes to them does not mean he can't help the C's team.

The other issue is that Finley doesn't really bring anything to the table that Bogans and Mason doesn't, however, he DOES bring something that Daniels and Allen don't.  He is a good perimeter shooter (as are Bogans and Mason), while the C's are in need for that off the bench.

So it is certainly the posibility that someone else's garbage could help the C's, just because he fits into a role that they need, even though his previous team did not need it.

Finley never played good defense even when he was younger, and this team needs help rebounding and a decent defender as well as scoring points.

The last 2 games i saw him play in he was slow and didn't shoot well. He's on Danny's radar so if he is brought in we will see if he can help.I have always been a fan of his so i would be alright with it but im just calling it as i see it.
