Read today that Tony Battie may be a buyout candidate
(http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=mc-afterthebuzzer022610&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)

Thought I'd post as he's a former Celtic.  Anyone interested in signing him for the remainder of the season?

I'm not, because the Cs are deep enough at the 4 and 5 spots, but I do like Tony...

Not sure if he has much left in the tank.

I will say that he was one of my favs back in the day, though.

the tony we had back in 2002 would be a great bench player on this team.  good help defender.  nice baseline jumper to help stretch the defense

Battie wouldn't be able to beat out BBD or Sheed for playing time. He would be comparable to Shelden Williams albeit slower and with inferior mobility. He's not an upgrade.

I think we are old enough already.

No need to get older.
And more injury prone.

Battie is the man, but this team's problem isn't personnel. It's execution.

Who's not executing?  Oh...the personnel.  Perhaps they can't?  Can BBD reach the rim with the ball?  Does he have the reach to block shots and defend the rim?  Is he 'mobile'?  Not really.

I think there's a pretty good chance Tony would be an upgrade as the 4th big off the bench.  He's more mobile than Perk and Sheed, and longer/taller than BBD/Williams.  He'd be helpful in quite a few matchups, if Doc paid attention to those things.

If he's got anything left, I'd be interested in talking to him if he was available.

i think marty conlon is still available too....

unfortunately, i agree with all above, don't see any way he'd crack the rotation. but i do think they could use a defense/rebounding/ hustling big off the bench, in contrast to a certain someone they have now cough-Sheed-cough

Our depth at PF is not the problem.

Last year he would've been great.  However, I don't see him beating out BBD or Wallace, and I'm not sure he can even beat out Shelden.

Still, I wouldn't hate him for depth.  But we'd probably be better served with a wing.

Yep, that's why I've never been crazy about him.  Great at catching and dunking, and that's it.
