Enough is Enough

The fact of the matter is that we played like crap in the second half. 

PERIOD

We also played awesomely in the first half. 

That's all there is to really take out of this game. 

Unfortunately, the fact that we played great in one half and terrible in the other is exactly what has everybody around here so gloomy, and it does mean there's more to take from the game than just that plain fact.

The thing is, this team has been playing this game of Jekyll and Hyde for the vast majority of the season now.  You're oversimplifying things by making it sound like it's just one game.  It's not.  Last night was something like the 15th game that we've lost after having a double digit lead.  That's not just troubling, it's downright sickening for anybody who was hoping this team was going to be a contender this year.

I'm honestly tired of people saying the regular season and the post-season are two different things.  Sure, you can have a great regular season and still not win it all (like the Cavs last year).  But you can't go from being an above average team to a great team in the course of a month without adding new players to the lineup.  So unless the Big 3 suddenly become a few years younger, I don't see a whole lot of hope.

I have no problem with the posters who claim that this team is going nowhere, is pathetic, etc, it's their opinion. But it's quite frustrating to see a dozen of these posts, and it really seems that these people enjoy seeing the team struggle and lose because that allows them to play the "I told you so" card.

People are entitled to their opinions, some are more positive than other, some are more negative than other, but it adds to the frustration of seeing the team struggle when you come on CB and see almost all the threads blaming the Big Three, Doc, etc, claiming we won't win anything this season, that we're done.

I understand that you are disappointed with the team and rightfully so, but I think that even in the hard times, as a fan, you have to show some support or loyalty, and it's frustrating to see people adopting the reverse attitude by scapegoating every player of the team and rooting for their struggles.

TP to the OP too for positivity which we can never have enough of in life. Personally I'm learning to lower my expectations so I can enjoy the stretches of good play we get and not get as worked up over the brutal ones like I did before.

Ill give you an apology and tp if I am wrong, but it seems to me that the spurs definitely won a title or two after so-so regular seasons. (ending up like a three seed)

I agree, but I think the larger problem (and absurdity) about last night is that if the Celtics had flat out been blown out from the start, nobody would care.  We had a darn thread about it yesterday.  Everyone seemed OK with the fact that this team was going to lose without PP.

But I feel the fact that we actually looked good for a half somehow warped everyone's perspective.

This is what I have been saying to people.

What happened last night? A Clev fan would say Clev played like crap for a half, thus allowing the Celtics to get a lead, but then they got it together in the second half.

We lost to a better team. If we had a healthy Pierce, perhaps we could have done better.

Seriously i have always enjoyed coming to the blog for quite some time now even though i have only been posting for a couple months now BUT..

after this latest loss it really is incredible how fans react and just go off on tangents.. Well there are some seriously negative signs that i will admit to, i truly believe that some of u root for this team to struggle just so u can whine and complain about the state of the team..

Its not even constructive criticism coming from all these fans its just the same ramblings over and over after every loss.. Obviously this team is not at the strength from two years ago but can we please just reflect for one second!

We have a legendary celtic starting to begin most likely the twilight of his career (Pierce) it would be nice to support this guy fully after everything hes given the organization, we have a legendary hall of fame top 20 type player (KG) clearly who's best years are past him but who gave his heart and soul to this organization and it would be nice if we could appreciate him and just back him and see what happens, and we also have another hall of famer (RAY RAY) who has been one of the most classy athletes that we have seen in a long time and it would be nice if remember that he also has given everything he has to the city of boston..

I keep reading how this team is not fun to watch, how their so hard to root for..

Well im just hear to say that i will forever be indebted to this big three for what they brought two years ago and i fully support them for however long they remain C's..

Again ive been called a kool aid drinker and a blind optimist but honestly i believe its about just supporting this team while realizing their deficiencies..

Its clear this team is not perfect and it will be a tough road to hoe but i know i will be there actually rooting for my team and not just waiting for them to fail and then jump all over them.. I think its about time that we become supporters and not the type of fans who just wait for failure...

Here are the records for the Spurs' 4 championship seasons:

98-99  37-13 (strike season)
02-03  60-22 (best in the NBA)
04-05  59-23
06-07  58-24

I don't see one win loss record in those 4 that will be worse than what the Celts will finish this year.

No, I agree that sometimes perspective is lost when the team falls short of expectations. I don't think they are as good as we thought at the beginning of the season (72 wins). I hope they can turn this around soon.
