Seriously i have always enjoyed coming to the blog for quite some time now even though i have only been posting for a couple months now BUT..

after this latest loss it really is incredible how fans react and just go off on tangents.. Well there are some seriously negative signs that i will admit to, i truly believe that some of u root for this team to struggle just so u can whine and complain about the state of the team..

Its not even constructive criticism coming from all these fans its just the same ramblings over and over after every loss.. Obviously this team is not at the strength from two years ago but can we please just reflect for one second!

We have a legendary celtic starting to begin most likely the twilight of his career (Pierce) it would be nice to support this guy fully after everything hes given the organization, we have a legendary hall of fame top 20 type player (KG) clearly who's best years are past him but who gave his heart and soul to this organization and it would be nice if we could appreciate him and just back him and see what happens, and we also have another hall of famer (RAY RAY) who has been one of the most classy athletes that we have seen in a long time and it would be nice if remember that he also has given everything he has to the city of boston..

I keep reading how this team is not fun to watch, how their so hard to root for..

Well im just hear to say that i will forever be indebted to this big three for what they brought two years ago and i fully support them for however long they remain C's..

Again ive been called a kool aid drinker and a blind optimist but honestly i believe its about just supporting this team while realizing their deficiencies..

Its clear this team is not perfect and it will be a tough road to hoe but i know i will be there actually rooting for my team and not just waiting for them to fail and then jump all over them.. I think its about time that we become supporters and not the type of fans who just wait for failure...

Very nice post and I agree with you. I have been following this blog since the beginning of the season, but just started posting now.

The loss last night was very tough especially coming off from a real good 3-1 road trip.

I agree its tough for the fans to sit through games where we know that the C's are very much capable of beating the team, but we have been struggling post Christmas and I refuse to believe that age is the main issue with the team. Sure our big 3 are in their 30's but those guys still got lots of left in their tanks. I know everyone is sick of the whole injury excuse, but that is the fact. This whole season injuries have been piling up on the team, and it has affected how we have played and our chemistry.

I am very sure with the same age given that everyone on the team is healthy, the C's are very much capable of beating a lot of those teams that we have lost against. But on the bright side I'd rather have everyone going in healthy for the playoffs, because a great regular season record isn't going to help you if another teams upsets you in the playoffs.

Cavs had the best regular season last year and practically swept everyone in playoffs before the Orlando upset them in the ECF.

Once the full squad is back, and if we can enter the playoffs with the same determination and domination that we started the season off, then I see our chances as very bright.

Anything and everything can happen in the playoffs. We aren't out until someone knocks us out.

I agree, but I think the larger problem (and absurdity) about last night is that if the Celtics had flat out been blown out from the start, nobody would care.  We had a darn thread about it yesterday.  Everyone seemed OK with the fact that this team was going to lose without PP.

But I feel the fact that we actually looked good for a half somehow warped everyone's perspective.

The fact of the matter is that we played like crap in the second half.

PERIOD

We also played awesomely in the first half.

That's all there is to really take out of this game.

THANK YOU!

Perspective!  When the Celts beat the Lakers a week ago without Kobe, I thought "hey this is great, but it's not a TRUE win...it's a win against the lakers, but without their best scorere!"

I was happy about the win...but it was tempered!  Today, I am equally tempered about yesterday's loss.  Though the loss sucked, good signs were shown.

This is especially so when the team is -1 player at the 3 position, and almost minus another with the flu at the backup 3 position (Marquis).

How can ANY team win ANY game when they are virtually non-existent at one whole position...especially when they are playing against the best small forward on earth!

Expectations.  This team has serious problems, but also serious potential...and they keep on showing it during the same game.  If the potential is there in the first halves, I refuse to give up on this team.  They just need to extend it for a full game.  They've got a month and a half to start playing this way.

ALL that we can 100% verifiably see is that this team is capable of rolling over the best of teams (Cavs, Lakers)...and being rolled over by these same teams in the same games.

Which Celtics team will we see in the playoffs for full games?  Nobody knows.  Nobody here can honestly say, because we all know that the intensity of the playoffs sits at a much higher level....an intensity the Celtics normally work to their advantage.

In the meantime, I'll just say that though this team is maddening, I LOVE them to bits.

So do you think that those of us who don't believe they will win the championship do not root for the team? I have season tickets and have had them for 12 years. I root my ass off every game I attend. I root for them every game I watch on TV. I also believe, based on what I see with my own eyes, that this team does not have the horses to win the championship. That does not make me a bad fan, but just a fan that has a different opinion from you and others. The celtics are 1-8 at home against the top 10 teams in the league, and 3-10 versus the Lakers, Cleveland, Orlando, Atlanta and Denver. This team  has lost 11 games since Christmas in which it had a double digit lead. This team has gone 13-15 in the last 28 games. I look at those numbers and draw my own conclusions. That does not make me or others bad fans.

We also played awesomely in the first half.

That's all there is to really take out of this game.

Unfortunately, the fact that we played great in one half and terrible in the other is exactly what has everybody around here so gloomy, and it does mean there's more to take from the game than just that plain fact.

The thing is, this team has been playing this game of Jekyll and Hyde for the vast majority of the season now.  You're oversimplifying things by making it sound like it's just one game.  It's not.  Last night was something like the 15th game that we've lost after having a double digit lead.  That's not just troubling, it's downright sickening for anybody who was hoping this team was going to be a contender this year.

I'm honestly tired of people saying the regular season and the post-season are two different things.  Sure, you can have a great regular season and still not win it all (like the Cavs last year).  But you can't go from being an above average team to a great team in the course of a month without adding new players to the lineup.  So unless the Big 3 suddenly become a few years younger, I don't see a whole lot of hope.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Whats the point of an internet forum that revolves around a team if you can't vent your frustrations about them?

If they've been playing bad enough so that you feel despondent, alone, and have this insatiable urge to watch fire dance nimbly across the rooftop of your neighbor's house, well then you should seek medical help.

But if the team has been playing bad enough so that you don't believe they are legitimate championship contenders, that doesn't make you a bad fan, or even a forum nausance.

It's when people start mocking others opinions instead of debating them, or when people start using personal attack while debating posts that the forum environment goes down hill. If people are a little down and it means you can't enjoy the forum anymore, don't blame them...blame danny ainge or kevin garnett's knees.

The day people stop complaining and just unite under a "stiff upper lip" mentality regarding the C's is the day this place stops being interesting and no longer needs moderators. Is that what you guys want? To see me unemployed? is that what this is all about?

Very nice post, Giving one to you for it

Little bit of advice, stay out of the game threads and you will find a whole lot less bashing of the team and general negativity on this site

It's why I tried to start a Pep Rally thread and have only journeyed back into them for short spurts

The reactionary threads are easier to ignore as you don't have to read the OP to know where the thread is going and some of the reactionary threads aren't half that bad as they bring in a more thoughtful, more rational, less reactionary look at things sometimes

Keep up the cheering for this team no matter where they end up

It's the GREEN thing to do

As one who followed the C's through the brief stretches of bad times in the early 70's and late 70's and then through the 22 years of misery that preceeded KG and Ray, I can tell you that I never, ever, lose hope.   Frankly, it is not fun for me to lose hope.  It depresses me when C's fans start to talk like pre-2004 Red Sox fans in their expectation (and almost a sense of pride in correctly predicting doom) that nothing will go right.  Some folks love playing the loser and enjoy the blame game.  It doesn't mean they are not great fans not does it mean they are not ecstatic when the C's win. It's just a different approach than I like to take.

Realism is important also, and the C's do not look like contenders right now.  However, blaming and ranting don't work for me so I don't go there.  Sports is fun for me as long as there is hope, and if not for the current season, my hope turns to future seasons, and possibilities.  There are always possibilities -- as DA proved 3 years ago when he saw 1 possibility get lost on a mis-timed ping-pong ball and decided to bank on a different path -- one that led quickly to a title.  I haven't given up on the possibility that this team can win it all.  But my contingency plans are taking shape.  I am gearing for shifting my focus to beating the Lakers (if its the Cavs then so be it) and then to an off-season of new possibilities.  Folks can say the possibilies aren't there -- but I'm not listening.
