Do you believe that Doc will (or should) be back coaching next season?

Although I never liked his substitution pattern,  Doc is a capable coach and a master of comming out of time-out with a good play.  He won a championship so he probably has a pass for life....or as long as DA is the GM.

As for the team.  Like I've said before....it's the lack of hunger what is worrysome and if we continue playing like this a first round exit won't be so surprising.

I've never really been a fan of Rivers, I disagree with a lot of his rotations and some of his play calls.  With that being said, he's a player's coach.  They stand up for him and respect him because of how respectful he is to the players.  Had Sheed been playing for the Spurs or Lakers his minutes would have been on quite the decline, but not in Boston.  Since the players love Doc, I really do see him sticking around, but I do not think an extension will be signed.  He makes about 5.5 mil a year and next season will be he last season under contract, I think Ainge will just wait it out and even if the C's offer an extension, I feel as if Rivers will decline so he can be with his family more.

Never liked Doc.  He seems incapable of coaching players "up".  He has to have his 2-3 all-stars, playing at all-star level to win consistently.  He needs a team that doesn't need much coaching.

It depends on how the season ends.

It's too early to say anything else.

I agree.  Although I think if it ends badly, there is a good chance he walks away, as Danny starts the blow-up process.

I believe Glen "Doc" Rivers will be around a Long Time...

My thing is this: If Doc wasn't fired during the mid 2000's, then he'll be here for next several years.

At the rate everyone was calling for his head a few years ago (me too to a certain extent), the fact that he wasn't fired then means to me at least that he will be here for a while, IMO.

Here's my thoughts on Rivers: http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=35885.msg697382;topicseen#new

He shouldn't be back, but he will be.

I talk to my friend on the phone, and everytime we talk he mentions how Doc Rivers is a terrible coach, I usually try to pooh-pooh it and defend Doc, but now I'm having a hard time to do so.

He just isn't a very good coach, honestly. Sure, he's a great media guy and all that jazz, and occasionally he has some nice plays out of the time out. Other than that, though I can't think of any other areas where he excels.

Lol...unfortunately I wasn't even born when he played, but one can imagine how he would be as a coach:

"Yeah, Perk!!! Nice Play!! Tommy Point!!"

I appreciate the Chip, but Doc is no longer getting through to this team, and his substitution patterns are just plain idiotic. Until Doc wisens up and plays the right people at the right times, i can no longer support him 100%

If Doc isn't getting replaced after an 18 game losing streak, he isn't getting fired during or after this season

This is the way I feel. As it looks now I've not got my hopes up about doing all that much in the playoffs. If the team looks like a bunch of underachievers at the end of the season then I could see him going. And if Danny blows-up the team then I think he should go for a fresh start for the team and himself.

I however still have hope that they all get a fire in their rears and do better than they have.
