I think the league should show some balls and actually prevent the Cavs from re-signing him.

No free trades.

not midgame though, so many teams have done this in the past, including ourselves; as much as I hate to help the Cavs, it's not fair for other teams to get away with it then not let them do it if it's bot a league rule...

The Cavs took on a hell of a lot of money, that's not a "basketball asset" but its something.

Plus a first round pick can be worth it if you hit on your guy.

Couldn't agree more. The Cavs get Jamison for nothing. Highway robbery.

Nice the C's showed some interest he's going back to Cleveland (heck he never really left) I think Tony Battie would be a good consolation prize for the team on our frontline if he's bought out from NJ.  I'm just curious what will be available Sans Larry Hughes in the way of wings. A 6'6-6"9 decent rotation guy would help.

The buyout/return to Cavs is imminent...wrong, but bound to happen.
I do feel that that was a considering factor in DA not trading Ray. Some of our trade suitors might have wanted to keep Ray, and the league could have looked at us the way they are at the Cavs.
As for Big Z's importance...look at them without him - 1-3 I think. Without him, Shaq plays alot of minutes, and Z is crucial to their system. He can rebound and he's a master at tipping shots back in. Not to mention his ability to hit the open 10-15 footer.
If we could convince him that a championship is more possible here with his services, then I'd be all up for it. Stealing Big Z from them would be a punch in the mouth to LBJ, and would solidify our front court. Next would be to target a sizable shooting wing.NOT LARRY HUGHES
Can't stop, Rondo!

I think Z still has game left, but I don't think he's a good fit here.  The last thing we need is more immobility down low.

However, I'd definitely take him to keep him away from Cleveland and for depth.

Still, I don't see him contributing much if by some miracle he ended up here.

:D Yeah like he's going to come play here for the second round exit, when he can get to the finals with Lebron. Actually he'd be a great fit here. Another soft jumpshooting old guy to toss out there. When are the C's going to get a legit backup center who isn't allergic to the paint or 4 inches too short?

I would love to have him. He would be a perfect 4th big off the bench. Get Big Baby on the pine...Definitely gonna go back to the Cavs though. I hate this stupid 30 day rule, they should make it for the remainder of the season.

The best time to stop something wrong is now.  Just because it's happened in the past doesn't mean it's okay now.

Technically it wasn't a "free" trade but come on...we all know that a late (really late) first rounder isn't a fair trade for Antawn Jamison.

Big whoopty whoop.  He can go back to the cavs and be the 5th or 6th big if you think Powe's knees have any cartilage left.

That should be good for 8-10 min in garbage time.

I think you underestimate what big Z brings to a team.

I just don't see how he's going to add much to the Cavs.  He's like there 3 best Center or 5th best big man overall.

Third best center... Who's the other one better then him other than Shaq?

Side Show Bob

He's a powerforward.
AV plays both positions pretty well.

One of the Cavs best lineups involve him and LeBron being the two biggest players on the floor. They do need Big Z back, but that's because relying on Shaq is a bad idea at this stage in his career.

Ik he plays both but his natural position is power forward.

This discussion reminds me of texting about sports with one of my friends. I wrote this in another thread, but does anyone remember big Z being pretty miffed when Mike brown didn't play him in the game he could break the record for all time games played by a cleveland player? It seemed like Mike brown was not his favorite guy. Maybe something to throw in the back of your mind before we all assume he goes back to cleveland. Not saying the celtics are the best fit, but maybe a team like Atlanta is better for him.

I don't see what the basis is for outrage on moves like the Big Z one. If people want Big Z, throw money at him. Or save money that can be used for situations like this. Or claim him off waivers and pay his old contract (that's possible, isn't it?).

It isn't Cleveland's fault that WAS wants to save money.
