Ilgauskas Buyout Waiting For Signature

Feb 24, 2010 4:56 PM EST
Zydrunas Ilgauskas is just a signature away from receiving a buyout with the Wizards, a source has told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

Indications are that Ilgauskas will receive around $9-$10 million of his $11 million salary.

After Ilgauskas clears waivers, which will take 48 hours, the veteran center will be able to sign with any NBA team other than the Cavaliers.

Cleveland, who traded him to Washington last week, cannot re-sign Ilgauskas until 30 days from the day he was traded.

Sources says that the Celtics, Hawks and Nuggets are interested in signing the center.

Like to hear that the C's are interested in him, but i still really think he is going to sign with the Cavs.

I think that he is going to go there 100 percent but I like that the C's are interested.

Big whoopty whoop.  He can go back to the cavs and be the 5th or 6th big if you think Powe's knees have any cartilage left.

That should be good for 8-10 min in garbage time.

I think you underestimate what big Z brings to a team.

I just don't see how he's going to add much to the Cavs.  He's like there 3 best Center or 5th best big man overall.

A Sheldon Williams if you will.

Ya but his real value comes as insurance in case of an injury to Shaq.

And it's not like he would get any more burn here.  The only way he would, is if we gave him Baby's minutes.  Then we would have to deal with a pouty Big Baby.

Third best center... Who's the other one better then him other than Shaq?

Some on this blog would prefer his defense to BBD's plus he wouldn't get his shot blocked.. you know since he's 7ft.

He's a powerforward.

Cool then he should get lots of burn.

Let's table this and check in during the playoffs regarding how many minutes he gets on the Cavs and his impact.

AV plays both positions pretty well.

One of the Cavs best lineups involve him and LeBron being the two biggest players on the floor. They do need Big Z back, but that's because relying on Shaq is a bad idea at this stage in his career.

Ik he plays both but his natural position is power forward.

I think the Cavs don't get out of the East without a backup to Shaq.

I think Z is very important to the Cavs and IIRC, they haven't been playing very well without him. He's their backup center and on a per minute basis he's still better than many centers in the NBA.
