... Tack on the instances where I had to eat the tickets for a few games and I can't make that commitment again.  Hoping to downgrade to a half-season rather than get rid of them completely.

...

I use the Cletics season ticket resell option the few times this hapens.  Seats sell right away with a credit to next years renewal.

I've done this too.  First time, they sold within a half hour.  The next couple times, they sat for 3 days with no buyers.  Sometimes closer to gameday, there are 200-300 available, so the odds of yours getting bought are slim.

I can always downgrade to a cheaper section next year(currently in the $50 section)

Just got a quick answer back from the Celtics on why my ticket increase is so much. A couple of years ago they had to move our seats because they converted our old seats into a press area. The new seats we selected are $110 seats, but they grandfathered us in for $90 (the cost of the old seats) because they forced us to move. They can no longer give us the lower price. So, our tickets are really going from $110 to $115 each -- not bad.

I'm afraid you cannot...I asked my Rep about moving down in price level, and that is hard to do, since most people are looking for cheaper seats in this market. I certainly don't begrudge the GREEN for raising prices-- it is a great product, especially since 2007  :) I guess I'll just have to penny-pinch a little more to hold onto them!

it is somewhat difficult, as they try to keep u within the same price range (its a business after all) but if you are persistent and want lesser value, u can get it.  its important to work well with your rep and develop a good relationship with him or her.  also, the longer you have had your season tix, the more they respect and appreciate ur business and tend to be more accommodating.

QUESTION!

Looking at my online account invoice, I notice 2 $30 "service charges" - one for playoffs and one for reg. season.  What is this?  Is this new?  I've never noticed in the past 3 seasons.

Service charges are normal each year.

Prices did not change last year, so stop crying about an increase.

This year, balcony seats which are still cheap will obviously see a bigger percentage increase, but most loge tickets will only go up $5.

Tickets are comparibly very cheap compared to other venues in the NBA in major cities.

Typically, loge seats have a $5 increase annually.
If you change your section, you will be charge the highest price for this section/row.
For instance, corner loges like 21,4, 14, and 10 are bout $105 per seat. If you move to this section, you will be paying $115. I still know a guy who pays $60 per seat and another guy who pays $80 since they were grandfathered after having seats for a long time.

Last year, there were plenty of balcony seats available, and you can downgrade or upgrade depending on your budget.

My guess was vinnie was in Loge 20 and got moved to Loge 21. Right?

Ticketexchange only works reselling the tickets based on the demand and price. Cavs, no tickets available, but alot for the Knicks. Weekend games are easier to sell because of the higher demand no matter who is the team, like the Nets this Saturday at 1pm. What is strange about the Celtics prices for seats besides the main 6 loges (22,1,2 and 11,12,13) the prices are close to being the same no matter what row.  For instance, Row A in loge 3 is $105, but row 15 is $105.
I would rather sit in Row A for the same price, so the closer you are the better chance for resale.

I was in section 20, the corner by the Celtics bench. They gave us two or three options when we had to move and we ended up in section 10. All three sections they offered us cost more than the section from which we were moving. They grandfathered us in at the price for section 20, but I was told by my sales rep that they could no longer grandfather us at the lower price. There was no explanation and I do not remember if when we were originally moved whether they said that we would only be grandfathered at the old price for a certain period of time.

Loge 20 used to be  one of the best places to sit for the price, right next to the Celtics bench.
It is a shame that the Celtics brass decided to move the media there and displace all of the season ticketholders.
The media used to be on the floor and behind Loge 21, but now the Celts added another row of courtside seats, emptied out the first 20 rows of Loge 20, and it looks like they are trying to cash in on the recent success.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.  Appreciate that insight.  Think I'll stick with the few games a year I currently get.

Loved the loge 20 seats and that is where we sat when we saw the C's destroy the Lakers to win banner 17. Then we were told we would have to move.

I had balcony seats in 2007 and again this year and they've gone up steadily since the 2007 championship (not surprising really). I think this year will be the last I do season tickets. It's a lot of money and I'm still trying to pay off my student loan and my car loan  :-\

Bill Simmons wrote a great column about season tickets and such, by the way.

Has anyone sat in sections 308 or 309?  I might have an option to move up to the front row in one of those sections, and I can't decide if moving up 10 rows is worth moving to the end of the arena (I am currently in the corner in 313).

I did the "strip" in 309 one postseason and 324 in another.  Think I was in row 3 or 4.  It wasn't bad at all.

It all depends on how your angle is with regards to the backboard and how you feel about being behind it.

Granted that was in the early part of the '00s but I doubt anything has changed over there.
