Why is Perk playing so few minutes?!

How many of those offensive fouls are when the ball is in Perk's hands? 

Most are on those screens that he has to set within the offense that everyone knows the refs are going to call 2-3 times a game.


And how many of those TOs are offensive fouls called when he is setting the screen.

If you are going to mention TOs when the ball is in his hands, find out how many he actually commits in a game. 


Meanwhile, how many teams have a 5th option on the floor shooting at such a high % while scoring around 10 a game?

Also, a lot of those bad screens can also be blamed on the player with the ball for not waiting for him to get there and completely stop.

I think the reason Perks minutes seem short is because Sheed is playing nothing but backup center and Baby is playing nothing but backup PF. You almost never see Sheed and Perk on the floor together for any extended time. Maybe it's a lack of mobility and athleticism issue.

DOC seems like he has to play Sheed to justify the signing.

It's almost like when your boss hires someone who doesnt quite match up to all the hype and then gives them a lot of authority/responsibility or praise and will not admit they are not up to par or making mistakes....cant look like getting him wasnt a 'great idea' or maybe he isnt worth what we invested. That would make management look a little flawed.

None of this really matters, the real issue with our bigs isthe noticeable increase in poor rebounding numbers overall. I would not have been able to predict this at the begining of the season, but the numbers dont lie.

perk is solid this season, this is the first season he has really come into his own for me as a legit center in the nba, and he is starting to get some props for that. naturally, his shot blocking and presence in the paint has ovbiously stepped up since KG came to boston, but its his offense and how confident he is to take shots..

Good point. I've noticed this too. Rondo especially seems to move before the screen gets there. Something he does with KG too.

They are using the man on Perk less often to double.  Something about how he has improved his speed of catching and shooting, guys don't have as much time to get back to Perk.

While you are being sarcastic, this is truly the reason.  Perk isn't a very good offensive player.  Frankly, he isn't much of a threat at all.  So his presence on the floor I think hurts the other players offensive game.

Bottom line:  As much as many love Perk, and he does bring a certain swagger to the team, he is an average player.

Spot on.  It's been mentioned several times during several of their broadcasts why Perk and Rondo cause the lane to shrink.  Plus Perkins struggles against some of the quicker bigs where BBD is much better fit.

Why is Perk playing so few minutes? How are these for reasons: according to 82games.com, Perk is one of the worst centers in the league at getting tips around the basket (an extremely important part of any big man's game).

  Just curious, but you understand that most of these guys only make one tip-in every 3-4 games, right? I don't see it as tremendously important, and I don't think that it's surprising that Perk isn't great at it given Doc's statements about not wanting to crash the offensive glass.

KG has struggled to deal with the doubles, he's not getting as many post touches or doubles as before. So it surprises him more often.

They're also using the weakside perimeter defender or Rondo's guy to double more often than Perk's now. Hopefully KG gets back to crisper post passing.

I was shocked recently when Perk had a follow dunk. I have long been annoyed by his inability to tip the ball in on the offensive boards. I'm not sure he even has the ability to tip a ball in because I don't think I've ever seen him do that, though I saw that follow dunk.

Considering how his offensive keeps him close to the hoop, this surprises me.

Personally, I am not concerned with lacking minutes. So long as I am comfortable with Perk on the bench while I am watching a game, I do not worry about how many minutes he will average.
