Paul looks worse and worse every game... and he won't accept to get a few games off to rest. Let's hope he heals up quickly because he is hurting himself, and his team by playing through injuries.

It would be great to see Doc sitting him but he won't.

Have some stones, Doc. Sit him

Today might have been the worst game I have seen him play. He cannot jump nor run and now with the injured thumb, he cannot shoot. Having him on the court is actually a negative right now with all of these injuries.

I don't know if we were watching the same game but this was one of Pierce's best defensive games all season IMO. If he has the ability to D up, then I think should be on the court (provided that playing won't cause further damage to his thumb)

I was actually thinking about this after I watched the Lakers game.  No doubt PP looks absolutely beat up, but, if the trainers are giving him the ok to play, then, I think it is important that he plays.

We must remember, this stretch here is the first time we have had a full squad, so, I think PP is still playing, just so there is consistency in the line up.  We need to build up that team chemistry again, and if he sits out again, we will have to re-intergrate him back in the line up.

As long as he is able to play through it, then, I'm personally all for him playing through it, even if he is not playing the best at the moment.

If we keep runnin him into the ground like this, he'll be as worked as he looked in the play off's last year.  Remember D Rose blocking his typical elbow fadeaway?

I second sitting the captain, he isn't effective right now, and despite how much of a warrior he is, isn't helping.

The thing is, the trainers are probably clearing him because he's not in danger of further injuring what's already hurt.  The larger question is whether he can still get back to 100% playing through.  If he can, maybe it's better he does play.  It could be a couple more wins.  But if he can't, he should just rest.  Having him at 100% for the playoffs is much more important than playoff seeding.

A healthy PP likely would've meant a win for us today.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
Pierce is clearly hurting:

Quote
The thumb Paul Pierce sprained trying to fight through a screen against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday has made it almost impossible for him to shoot the way he wants to shoot.

Pierce finished Sunday's game against the Denver Nuggets with a season-low five points on 2-of-10 shooting. Even more alarming might be the fact that he hit just one of his four free throws.

"There's some pain when I catch the ball, and it's really affecting my shot," he said. "That's the reason I'm not as aggressive."

Quote
"You go by feel," Pierce said. "I tried to play off instincts, and my instincts are to shoot the ball. But it's not the same shot."

Quote
Pierce likely will sit down with his coach on Monday or Tuesday to have a frank discussion about whether it makes sense to have him in the lineup on Tuesday against the New York Knicks or on Thursday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"You can see it on free throws," Rivers said. "The thumb, the knee and the foot, it may have caught up to him right now. We may have to look at getting him some rest. On the surface, that's the way it looks like it's going."

Pierce missed five games after getting his knee scoped right before Christmas, and he sprained his foot -- early reports suggested it was broken -- going after a loose ball three weeks ago. Even he can't keep all his maladies straight.

"The knee is actually doing good," he said. "My foot is actually doing good. The only problem I have is my foot -- I mean, my thumb."

Quote
his wasn't an ordinary bad game, though, and Pierce knew it.

"Even on my free throws, I feel weird," he said. "But I feel like I can help us in other ways."

He can best "help us in other ways" by sitting out until he's feeling better.

We're gonna need him down the road.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
if nate can play, i'd start daniels...  I don't want anything to do with scal or t. allen for long stretches.  i'd like to see what daniels could do given 30 minutes of floor time...

Yep I'd certainly sit him, for a week or two. Beating the Cavs later on this week would be great, but we need him later on. Get some rest and heal, Captain.

TA's not 100% healthy either...I'd start Marquis.

My hat's off to this team of ours.....the most injury-related games missed this season...unforgiving schedule.....but we are still contenders, right in the thick of things.

Well, that's exactly what I meant, if it is able to heal while he is still playing, then, yeah, I'm all for it.
We will definately need him to be 100% come the playoffs...

Doc doesn't have to have a meeting to sit PP Tuesday against the Knicks.

Don't sit him down entirely, use him 10-15 min a game so that he doesn't lack fitness coming back after a 4-5 game rest.

I posted this a couple of times, once robinson is set on team sit paul.  Not limit minutes but actually give pp a practice & a game OR TWO off.  Marquis can start, give pierce time to rest all the nagging injuries he has, it'll be worth it for playoffs.
Once Pierce is near 100% if Ray has any issues I would do the same thing.
Have I already said this  ;)  I really like daniels game/signing.  I know he's got a history of injuries but great signing by danny.
