Today might have been the worst game I have seen him play. He cannot jump nor run and now with the injured thumb, he cannot shoot. Having him on the court is actually a negative right now with all of these injuries.

Paul looks worse and worse every game... and he won't accept to get a few games off to rest. Let's hope he heals up quickly because he is hurting himself, and his team by playing through injuries.

It would be great to see Doc sitting him but he won't.

The thumb really seems to be giving him problems.  With Nate coming in I think starting Marquis wouldn't be too big of a blow to the bench.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
if pierce plays like this the rest of the way, the celtics will be goin' fishing earlier than they'd like.  sit him now, because it won't really matter what seed this team gets in the playoffs...

After the first quarter, I thought the Celtics played an AMAZING game.

Everyone on the team looks solid and ready to go...

Except our poor Paul. His thumb and knee are obviously both bothering him because he's not even close to the Paul we know. Rest it up, fella!

Well, he played well defensively.  But Marquis looked good tonight and probably could have used more minutes.  I think part of the problem is with the trade.  If Pierce sits, TA starts and Marquis has to back up the 1, 2, and 3 spots.

Still, the game encouraged me.  Denver had the ball bouncing their way all night at home and we stayed in it with a PP who can't shoot.  There's no doubt in my mind that if the C's are 100%, they can take this team.

I don't trust our training staff one bit. Honestly after the close call with that foot injury that turned out to be just a sprain I thought they'd take extra precaution with him.

In Pierce's own words he's a mess. With recent knee, foot and thumb you'd think they'd be limiting his minutes. We can't afford to aggravate anything just as KG is starting to look better.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

I agree, he should sit for a while.  If Paul were KG he wouldn't be playing.  They clearly haven't learned their lesson.  A guy shouldn't need to have a major injury before the team is careful about playing him when he's injured.

With Nate in, I think we can afford to have Pierce sit for a while, so he needs to, period.

  • You say when......
You are doggone right, The knee, it doesn't heal playing bball, it doesn't heal in a week, not even 2, they opened it up, drained it repeatedly, not just once. What, puss and infection, stress, swelling on his knee..that is MAJOR, then his foot, a sprain, it takes a month to fix a sprain, now the thumb......are you kidding, he needs a month in the ice tub, in Boston harbor water, just to get some shrinkage......

They should sit Paul for couple games. Don't want to single him out, but you could say he cost the Celtics 2 games on this road trip. This game, and the 8TO against New Orleans. He could use some Rest.

sit him vs. the knicks (nate will be here, so that will help). if his thumb is good by thursday, let him play against the cavs. the legs will come in time - he's lifting on them again, post-knee infection, so i expect he won't be dragging so much in 2-3 weeks. but the thumb is screwing him up...he can't grip the ball right, which messes with his shooting and dribbling.
