Found this just posted on Realgm through a CBS sportline report.  Not sure how close but its an interesting development to read about.

Quote
The Bobcats, determined to add an athletic big man to their front court, are close to landing Tyrus Thomas in a deal with the Bulls that would send expiring contracts and a future No. 1 pick to Chicago, a person with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com.

While the source cautioned that the details were still being resolved and that the deal was pending final approval, it appears that Thomas will secure his exit from Chicago. The Bobcats would then have the rest of the season to evaluate the soon-to-be restricted free agent and decide whether to commit to him long-term. Trading Thomas spares the Bulls the embarrassment of losing one of their best players through free agency with no compensation for the second year in a row.

If successful in landing Thomas, Charlotte would circumvent discussions between the Knicks and Bulls involving a swap centered around Al Harrington.

good sign that a trade was made that wasn't on the radar. This probably means some GM are getting desperate.

RicBucher    Sources say Cha is likeliest destination for Bulls' Ty Thomas right now, in exchange for expiring contracts. Flip Murray/Acie Law works.

Huge move by Chicago if it happens

Expirings and a number 1 pick in the middle of the pack is great value and removes a $14 million cap hold off their books
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

Felton/Augustin
Jackson/Murray
Wallace/Graham
Diaw/Thomas
Mohammed/Chandler

That's a pretty solid rotation. Will probably be a first round exit, but they won't bow out easily. It'll be a rough series. Down and dirty.

Glancing the roster, Charlotte's expirings are Graham, Murray, and Law.  Felton's a BYC guy.

Buch just said it's likely Law/Murray/protected 1st.

Felton is a one year BYC guy meaning he has a no trade clause to boot

And he's a home town guy

He's going no where

Pretty good for both teams.

Also, it'd seem that the only incentive left (if Thomas is gone) for another team to take on Hinrich at this point would be Deng.

Getting Flip would make a Hinrich trade a little more likely, you'd have to think.

This deal was rumored at the same time the Davis for Augustin rumor came out.

Definitely a team that you don't want to play in the first round of the playoffs...
