I won't lie, I was hoping we'd swoop in at the last second and land Martin... hopes = destroyed.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

I kind of hoping the Knicks cant work out a deal for McGrady & he does end up staying in Sacramento, because I think they would buy him out & we could possibly sign him as a reserve-Starter being he knows DOc's system. If he ever wants to shed that tag of not winning a Playoff Series the C's are his best chance honestly!

Anyway we can become a 3rd team in this trade?
Ending up with something more than just Nate...here's my wish list

Wilson Chandler
Shane Battier
Nocioni
Ime Udoka
Al Harrington
Can't stop, Rondo!

I dont want any of those names in place of Ray Allen. We need a bonafide Superstar or 1 on the rise. Neither of those guys fit that bill!

According to the report, if he gets bought out he still likely lands in NY... looks like he really wants to go there...

I don't think the Cavs will sign him honestly... he's a proven selfish player - not sure he accept a reduced role. Ferry isn't dumb, he knows this is his last shot to convince LeBron not to bolt. They just made a great move to get Jamison, he's not following it up by adding McGrady to the mix.

That sucks! If that is true he just wants a free ride on a made team. At least with Boston he could share in some of the accomplishments being we are more TEAM oriented than the LEBRON'S & The KOBE'S. T-Mac why be a footnote when you could be the story! You would get credit here because we would be struggling when you arrived.

according to espn:

martin, sergio rodriguez, kenny thomas, hilton armstrong for tmac, landry, joey dorsey.

i wonder how this would affect evans' play...
Carl Landry is an excellent incentive.

Understandable why Sacramento choose Houston's offer over Boston's.

Indeed.  Landry's a very nice player.  Still a nice trade for Houston; you don't want Aaron Brooks as your go-to perimeter scorer.
Absolutely, Morey might build a title worthy squad yet ... with Yao Ming as it's centerpiece.

Yao + Scola + Martin + Ariza + Battier + Brooks

Very interesting top six players. I think they still need another impact player to become a legitimate contender. More of a very good team, a team that wins 55 games but loses in the second round, than a frontrunner.

They lost some depth with Landry + Dorsey too.

Chuck Hayes. Kyle Lowry is a free agent and likely looking for $4-5 million a year. Chase Budinger. Jermaine Taylor. David Andersen.

Actually, I'm wrong, the Rockets still have a lot of depth if they resign Lowry. Add a good first big off the bench and their bench will be excellent all over again.

you don't want Aaron Brooks as your go-to perimeter scorer.
Goodness gracious no.

I like Yao/Scola/Hayes for them next year.  With Battier giving some minutes at the 4, I like their rotation a lot, even without a major addition.   If I were Houston I would look to start Lowry and use Brooks off the bench.  Their defense would take off.

Surprised Sac wasn't able to hang Nocioni or at least Udrih on the deal.  Martin's got such a reasonable contract (Rondo money, basically): it really doesn't make sense to trade him just for Landry.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Jimmy Butler
PF: Pau Gasol
C: Yao Ming

The Rockets would be slightly over the expected luxury tax threshold if they resigned Scola + Lowry to $8 million + $4-5 million contracts respectively.

That will limit them in free agency. They do have a valuable draft pick coming up if they miss the playoffs. Either for selecting a young talent or as a trade asset.

Why not us  :'(  We need an SF the most - McGrady will more likely get PT here than at any other contender.

I think Tmac might be what we need. We may have just won in '08 because the big three were so motivated. No matter what way you spin it, even if you are the most competitive, you will always be more motivated for the first trophy rather than the second or third. We can see it in our lethargic play. Tmac has that motivation. He may not give us the stats, but he intangible us toward a trophy.

I think jdub means as a backup 3 (whom we would get with our small expiring e.g TA, Scal, House), not a Ray replacement

I don't think they would've made much of a splash this summer anyway, with or without cap... KevMart gives them a legitimate perimeter scorer which they really need - Brooks has pop but you don't want to have to rely on him for that. Overall, this sets them up pretty nicely for the future - depending on Yao Ming's ability when he returns.
