No not at all.... It's been said many times before, one game is irrelvenant. The thing is we've screwed up in over 10. Either we trade now, or go into a long dark rebuilding.... Again!
Except after the last big 3 faded we didn't have point guard like Rondo. Even if we have to full rebuilding mode, you hand the keys to Rondo and it is a lot less bleak than it was back then.
They had a young superstar SG that was considered the second best SG in the league after MJ at the time

That didn't work out too well
Well you can hardly assume that two of the players that will turn us around in the future will die can you?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Would you have thought anyone would imagined that another young Celtic stars could die after Lenny Bias died?

Don't you think there was hope of a greater future after the Big Three once Reggie started to show what he was all about?

All I am saying is assume nothing

Rondo is a nice piece but letting the Big Three fade and pinning this entire franchise's hopes on Rondo is something that happened before and took a decade and a half to fix when it fell on it's face with a tragedy

Letting these guys get old, retire Celtics and hoping a 6 foot basketball player that gets knocked to the ground hard 5 times a night is the answer to the future is a mistake in my opinion

Danny needs to be proactive and make moves while he can now while the players he has still have value

Staying pat, reupping Ray and waiting for 2012 is a mistake to me

One career ending injury to Rondo at the end of 2011 and perk signs elsewhere, and we are left with three aging guys, lots of cap space the next year and no reason for a good young star to sign here

Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

If you can't count on your players staying alive in their 20s then there's no way to plan anything at all.

So the point is make sure you don't draft/trade for players that might die?  Great.

The point is don't put all your eggs into the basket of a 6 foot PG that gets knocked to the deck hard 5 times a game

The dying part has nothing to do with it and you guys know it so stop being so freaking coy

The point is we shouldn't expect one pretty good player that is small and as vulnerable as NBA players come to be what we pin all our future hopes on

Trade assets like the expiring contracts and Ray and get more good young talent if you can

Standing pat with the Big Three is a recipe for disaster for this franchise

I'm with you but just remember it takes 2 to tango and if you and I can see that it's almost a necessity to trade Ray (contract) don't you think DA sees it as well?  It has to be the right trade.

You know the strange thing of it all? We came Very Close to losing our Captain...almost 8 yrs from the Lewis tragedy. Thank God Paul recovered from that attack.

Paul coming back from that, and us getting KG and Ray Ray brought back the Celtic Mystique I think.

If Ray Allen sucks, will the Kings be willing to take him?

I doubt this game will make a difference, but it's not in the Celtics' best interest to throw this game.

Look I'm a die hard Rondo fan, but if our current roster is what we'll have for the playoffs, we won't be able to take down Orlando in 7. Sure after the big 3 we'll have Rondo, but he's 1 player, just like Pierce. I think a young Pierce (25 points, 6 rebounds, amazing shooter 3 assists) is comparable to Rondo, except for the fact Rondo can play better D and distribute, but has flaws in his offensive game. To put it plain and simple, we're going to need another Star (Kevin Martin, Iggy, Amare, Bosh) to complement Rondo and Perk in 3 years....

Why would trading now mean not going into a long dark rebuilding? We already made the decision to go through rebuilding when we made the Ray and KG trades. We committed to the rebuilding for a few years of chances at titles.

At the moment, KG, Ray, and Pierce (with a player option) don't have the value to help us avoid rebuilding through trades. It isn't enough to want to trade. You have to have a trade partner willing to give you something for what you are offering.

I think I phrased it wrong. Not trading will remove us from championship contention this season, and unless we trade or sign a big free agent we won't be in the league's top 4 for next season. If we trade now we could get Kevin Martin who can provide  a solid 20 points, 4+ boards and assists and learn to play defense just like Ray did. I think a future with Rondo and Kevin Martin next year is decent, in 2 years a little bleak, but awesome in 3 years when KG is expiring and we can proably get and All Star big man. If we can keep Perk, imagine, Rondo,K-Mart, Pierce (Hopefully), a 20-8 kinda PF, and a monster in Perk. Pretty hopeful!
