  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Quote from: New York Post
Team president Rod Thorn flew via private jet to Vancouver yesterday for two days of meetings with incoming owner, Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. Thorn met with two of Prokhorov's associates in Dallas over the weekend and discussed the business side of the organization.

The fact that Prokhorov flew in Thorn bodes well for Thorn. Also, Prokhorov received very favorable reviews of Thorn when he and his colleagues asked around this season (think international connections).

Thorn was prepared to give Prokhorov a lengthy presentation dealing with the basketball future of the team, including next year's coach. Jeff Van Gundy was one of over a dozen names presented. Thorn declined comment on any ownership matter because Prokhorov still has not been approved

Finally New Jersey is taking a step in the right direction since firing Lawrence Frank. JVG is one of my favorite coaches from the last 20 years. Hopefully he toughens these kids up.

Sounds like they're kicking the tires on a lot of big names out there; JVG, Pitino, Calipari, Coach K, etc...

They're looking to make a big splash and drastic makeover going into '10-11.

I'd say they're the leading contender for overpaying free agents this summer after the top caliber guys pass on them.

Yeah, I'm thinking either them or the Knicks.

Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh. That's who they're getting. Mark me down.

I mean its inevitable someone will decide bosh and johnson are franchise guys who need max deals, but those moves just set up the franchise for 1st and 2nd round playoff exits every year.

Devin Harris

Chris Bosh
Brook Lopez

That's a 1st or second round playoff loss? I disagree sir.

True, I wasn't figuring on them signing both. Will they have room for 2 max deals?

My God, if they get Wall or Turner in the draft?  That's a heckuva squad for now & the future.

If you draft Wall do you look to trade harris if the deal is right? He has a very reasonable contract.

This would be terrible news.  JVG is one of the few decent color guys out there.  He needs to stay in the booth.

That's the idear. Ever since the Najera trade. That's why New York is willing to send Jared Jefferies AND Jordan Hill to Houston for McGrady. They know very well they likely won't resign McGrady, but he'll take Jefferies off the books.

My God, if they get Wall or Turner in the draft?  That's a heckuva squad for now & the future.

Or even if they end up with number 5 and trade it for a known commodity, like a Luol Deng or Rudy Gay in a S&T

Oh, I'd definitely move Harris and I think you'd find some takers willing to give up a nice piece or two for him.

If the Nets play this right and get a little luck in the draft, they could be setting themselves well for the next decade or so.

Gee wiz... sounds like Joe Johnson is going to a lot of places.  He's already going to Chicago, New York and the Clippers (oh and Boston if the Celtics somehow find 20 million in caproom magically).   Sounds like it's going to be a painful process.   Can Atlanta keep a toe or something?

Well I can only be responsible for myself...and in my own little universe, Joe Johnson is going to New Jersey.

You can subscribe to whatever pro-dismemberment reality you like, sir.
