You know, I'm more and more intrigued by a possible Hinrich deal not involving Ray.  I didn't like it at first because Hinrich is dramatically overpaid.  However, if our goal is solely to get better here, it's not a terrible move.

I mean if we trade Ray, the chances of us actually improving dramatically via talent is probably small.  However, getting Hinrich for House, TA, and Scal basically gives us a legit backup combo guard that plays tough defense and can shoot the three.

We then have a very nice nine man rotation of the starting five, plus, Kirk, Daniels, BBD, and Wallace.

While I don't like Hinrich's deal, it is worth noting that it actually decreases from 9.5 million this year, to 9 million next to year, to 8 million the final year.  Not that it's a huge deal, but it's something.  He's also nice insurance in case Daniels or Ray leaves.  Not saying he replaces either of them, but he'd make it easier to replace Ray with an MLE guy if push came to shove.

Again, not my ideal trade, but it doesn't really rob us of any talent, and it upgrades a weak spot.

some disembodied voice on weei mentioned that the difference in the orlando game was KG vs rashard lewis. last few years we've owned that match up, now orlando exploits the matchup.

this got me thinking and i've decided the deal i want is for hinrich and deng.

deng is a superior defender who at 6'9" would have little trouble matching up against lewis. having deng on the floor would take a lot of pressure of KG who would no longer be our only real option to guard those quick forwards like lewis, odom and josh smith. also hinrich's ability to guard 3 positions would be a huge asset.
doc could throw rondo, hinrich, deng, pierce and KG or perk on the floor and shut down just about any run.

i think this move keeps us in title contention this year and adds solid young talent to an aging roster.

too bad Chicago isn't going to trade Luol Deng unless they get back somebody of similar talent (e.g. Al Jefferson)

They'd trade Deng for a HUGE expiring, allowing them to compete for the hometown DWade (and his Jordan 2010's)

I'd easily trade Ray,Giddens, and a 1st rounder for Deng and Hinrich.

Rajon Rondo, Kirk Hinrich
Tony Allen, Marquis Daniels, Eddie House
Paul Pierce, Luol Deng, Bill Walker
Kevin Garnett, Glen Davis, Brian Scalabrine, Shelden Williams
Kendrick Perkins, Rasheed Wallace

that's a very good 9 man rotation.

TA also averages 10pts, 3reb, 2ast, 1.6stl as a starter, that's pretty good.

I think if Deng came here, Pierce and he would likely start at the 2/3.  Even if that didn't happen, I'd still be willing to bet the majority of minutes played at the 2/3 spots would probably be with those two (and probably Hinrich and Daniels).  I can't imagine TA would get much run.

I like Heinrich, he gives us a very good wing defender and he plays tough, tough basketball. Rondo and heinrich in the back court would be a very tough Duo.

I also like the fact that Heinrich can play the point very well. He and Rondo on the break together...dangerous.

Even better that he could (in theory) be had without giving up Ray.

Still, a pretty crappy contract that could possibly persuade ownership not to let us use the MLE.  However, with everyone but Ray and Daniels next year, if Ray re-signs for cheap, we may not need to use the MLE.

pierce and deng would likely start. however, if the opponent went small and quick at the two you may start hinrich and bring deng off the bench.
either way i would love to see that duo come to beantown this spring.

Deng's not getting traded for Ray Allen.

Just because he's starting doesn't mean he's playing 40 minutes. But for the most part Pierce isn't capable of handling the faster younger guards, and Deng has never been capable of that.
