With the majority of C fans coming to the conclusion that this team as constructed will not win another title, I think we should start considering ALL possibilites for improving this team for the future.
Nobody has ever mentioned the possiblity of trading Perkins. After the Big Three finally moves on, Rondo and Perk (as of right now) will be our future core. Perkins has no consistant offensive game nor will he be able to run with Rondo. Though he is a top 3 defensive center in the league, the main reason he is affective now is because he is surrounded by offensive talent. That will not be the case after the Big Three are gone
With that being said, trading Ray for Kevin Martin or Ellis should not be where we stop. If that trade is to occur this week, let the team play out the rest of the season. Then during the offseason, trade Perk for a young athletic PF/C like Bougut, Randolph, Love, Thomas, etc. Yes we would loose a big defensive presence but it would also make us alot more affective offensively. Because lets face it, Perk will not be able to handle a role of the third/fourth scoring option.
A core of:
Rondo
Martin or Ellis
(Defensive SF)
(Defensive Big)
Bogut or Randolph or Love
Would have a very bright future in the league
