I have no doubt that Danny kicked the tires on Amare.  He would've been nuts not to even talk to Phoenix.  I'm sure he was told the price and Danny realized that we didn't have the necessary pieces.

what pieces? Hickson?

i agree...so you are telling me that Z's contract, hickson and the last pick in the first round is something danny couldn't match with ray allen's huge expiring, BBD or Perk and boston's own higher first round pick? doesn't make much sense to me to say boston doesn't have the pieces to get amare.

Well, if Phoenix is asking for things that we're unwilling to give up, then we don't have the pieces to get it done.  The Celtics have to have a willingness here too.  It's rather simple.

We have no idea how close Phoenix really is to getting this done.  Its all speculation but I'm sure its in negotiation.

All I'm saying is that if the trade going to PHO is Z (getting bought out), Hickson, and a #1, then pieces wasn't the reason Amare went to CLE and not us...

i think ray, scals, walker, and a first for iggy and dalembert is our best hope at this point.

I dont think the kings trade martin, and i know that monta isn't coming here.

Talks are heating up in Dallas this weekend between the Cavaliers and Suns centering on forward/center Amar'e Stoudemire.

A source said the Suns want whatever team that trades for the 6-foot-10, 249-pound Stoudemire to also take guard Jason Richardson.

That might be why the Cavs haven't pulled the trigger on such a deal.

It's also why a third team might need to be included in such a trade.

Stoudemire, 27, is making $16.4 million this season and owns a player option on his 2010-11 contract worth $17.7 million. Richardson checks in at $13.3 million this season and $14.4 next year.

Taking Richardson's contract could be a major sticking point for the Cavs and other teams.

How about this: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yj9uudv

We are on the hook for LOTS this year and next (which is the main disadvantage/sticking point as you said), but then next year we have three huge expirings, which will help us rebuild (if this new team isn't good enough).

Jason Richardson would be an excellent addition to the Cavs.

If Phoenix is offering him + Amare, the Cavs should pull the trigger.
