Rumors have linked Rasheed Wallace to the Bobcats, but Celtics general manager Danny Ainge says he won't deal the veteran forward Charlotte coach Larry Brown is believed to have interest in Wallace, a former Tar Heel Ainge added that he expects Boston to improve over the season's final stretch"We are clearly a better team than we've been playing," he said"There have been some injuries. But there is no question we are better than how we have been playing. Asked if he felt he needed to make a move, Ainge said, "Al speculation. It's only a month ago [that the team was performing well]. We need to play better and I think we can.

We aren't going far if Perk is the only guy battling in the paint.  I'd rather trade Wallace.

Someone wrote something in a Carolina paper. That's where the Sheed rumors started.  If someone like David Aldrich or Peter Vescey reports that Sheed is being shopped, I'll believe it. But not before.

Even though the chronic haters seem to have gravitated to Sheed, the fact is that he has played pretty well at times.  I blame the Sheed bashing on Tony Allen, who has had the temerity to play well since returning from his injury, forcing the haters to find a new whipping boy.

I lay the team's current woes firmly at the feet of Garnett, Pierce, Perkins, Rondo and Rivers.

Garnett and Pierce have lost a step, and with his bad knee, Pierce appears to have lost two steps.  What's worse, in the last few games he's gone back to being the "bad Pierce" of 2005, racking up the turnovers.

Perkins looks like he has injured hands. Oh, he catches those post entry passes just fine, but can't seem to hold on to a rebound.

Rondo doesn't take care of the ball.  If he ever wants to be really good, he must learn to make the right pass, not just the flashy pass.

Lastly, Rivers' substitution patterns are as baffling as ever.

I was very excited when we signed Sheed but he has not played up to what I expected.  I have my doubts we are going to see anything improve in his play and by the end of his contract, wow, I think it could be ugly.

I think if Larry Brown is interested in Sheed, and we can get Augustin plus something back for him, let's do it and cut our losses.  Davis is a servicable back up big.

"cutting our losses" right now by trading him involves someone writing him a check for around $2.5 million for the trade kicker.  That's why he will not be traded, at least this year.  We won't likely get anything better that would make it worth that kind of money.

Next year is possible, but still unlikely unless we do a full rebuild.

The third year may well be a lockout...

Put in perspective, Sheed is productive player coming off the bench. Yes he shoots too may threes but he also is a dominant post player. He is out of shape but for a back up and some starters in this league, he plays good defense. I think expectations were too high. He is a bench now for a reason.
