Bos sends: PP + Sheed
Dal sends: Howard + Dampier( non guaranteed for 2010)+1st

I know Boston doesn't get much in return. They get a mid to late 20's pick and they get Howard who they could use in a sign and trade ( I doubt they would resign him). They also clear about 26 mil in salary next year

So the C's roster this off- season would look like this

PG: Rondo
SG: Daniels   / Walker
SF: _______
PF: KG      / BBD
 C: Perk

That would be about 38 mil for those 6 players. The cap for next year will likely be 52-55 mil so the C's would have 14-17 mil in cap space.

We could easily add a top free agent and put some youth back on the roster

Possible 2010-2011 Rosters

PG: Rondo
SG: Joe Johnson, Dwayne Wade(doubt it)
SF: Daniels
PF: KG
 C: Perk

or

PG: Rondo
SG: Pick or Role player FA
SF: Daniels
PF: Boozer or Stoudamire or Bosh / KG
 C: Perk

For Dallas

This is their shot at a ring. By adding PP and Sheed they don't have many holes. PP becomes the 2nd scorer to Dirk. Wallace provides low post defense.

PP and Sheed's contracts aren't longer than 2 years so they wouldnt tie yp Dallas's future to much.

PG: Kidd   / JJ Barea
SG: Terry  / Carroll
SF: PP     / Marion
PF: Dirk   / Gooden
 C: Sheed  / Buyout

That team can contend for a title I think.

What do you think ?

36 mil + 2 first round picks. Maybe. It's an interesting idea...

Does that create enough cap flexibility to offer a max contract free agent?

It's a solid trade for Dallas. I think they'd strongly consider it. Actually, that big man rotation looks very weak, the C's might have to send Perk down there too.

It's actually about 26. And Dallas doesn't have their 1st this year.

But it's enough to make one max FA offer this summer, after Ray is renouced. Who would that player be without Pierce here? We'd also lose all our other FAs.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Pierce and Sheed in a pure salary dump?? I don't think so. A third team would have to get involved and we would need at least a lottery pick. This really is blowing it up. I know why a team like NY or NJ is going this route- they have no chance right now, so they might as well take a chance in FA next year. We are still contenders (sorta)- we have a lot more to lose if we don't get a superstar next year.

No.

If you think KG is done, what's the point of becoming a player in 2010?  Adding Joe Johnson isn't going to make us a contender if it's at the expense of losing PP and Ray.  Maybe if you could guarantee that Wade comes here, but given our climate and the message it would send if we blew this team up, I wouldn't hold my breath.

If he's not done, then why are we breaking this thing up?

Nah.

Rondo: 9.1
KG: 18.8
Perk: 4.9
Davis: 3

Rondo and KG alone are over 26.

Yea, we'd have no MLE(from being under the cap), and have to fill out our roster with min guys. I don't think it is reasonable.

Well if we added Joe Johnson or whoever for the max we would be right around the salary cap of 52-55 mil

BUT

in 2 years KG's 21 MIL comes off the books

So 2012 we could have

Rondo, Max free agent from 2010( JJ, Amare,Bosh) and the ability to add another max free agent in 2012

What is wrong with that scenario? We pick up draft picks to fill out the team

Anybody else ready to see Danny break up the team for cap space and watch the best FAs sign with other teams?

  I'm not.
