It's not even a rumor.  The CBSSportline thing is just a trade idea no more than any other trade idea that fans create on these forums.   It has seemed logical for months that the Kings would eventually consider parting with Martin if they could also relinquish themselves of one of those other bad contracts (noccioni, garcia or udrih)... but as recently as two days ago the Kings came out and said they weren't trading Martin for cap room: “League sources say the Kings continue to tell inquiring teams that they have no interest in moving Kevin Martin, especially in scenarios intended solely to create salary cap space by freeing them of his contract.”

The CBSSportsline "trade idea" speculates that “Kings officials might be talked out of their reluctance to deal Martin if they could pry a prolific big man out of a third team brought into the discussions or in a separate transaction before the deadline.” …To me this just sounds like the writer is trying to say that the Kings might change there "no trade Martin" stance if they could land Amare.  That has to be the "prolific big man" that he's talking about.

But if it was a threeway where the Kings were getting Amare... that means the Suns would be getting Ray's expiring contract.   If the Celtics could land Amare for Ray's expiring contract.... I say we just freakin trade Ray for Amare and figure the rest out later.

I think Chicago is getting hosed in that deal. I guess if they are desperate enough to trade Thomas and Hinrich to free up cap space it is possible.

If that deal occurred I think Ray would seek a buyout with the Kings and then potentially come back to us. Or just sign with a competing team to try to stick it to us. I think the return is more likely
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

It would be a lot of fun to see Kevin Martin play alongside Steve Nash in Phoenix's high octane offense!

Some people are so greedy. If you want to make a trade idea, at least try to make it fair, right?

I'd like to see the Thunder make an offer for Amare.  Jeff Green + expirings for Amare.  Thunder are currently the 7th seed.  Getting a legit big man could turn them into something frightening.  I think they are crossing their fingers that Bosh or Al Jefferson becomes a possibility for them, though.

I like the idea of the Thunder making a trade for a legit veteran big man. Seeing Durant and Amare play together would be a fun thing.

while im a kevin martin fan and wouldnt mind if they get him for ray, i think getting iggy and brand/dalembert/williams changes the dynamic of the team, i think the difference is martin makes the celtics a contender, iggy and brand?make the c's the favorite because of depth and defense(the keys to the C's trophy run in 2008) id be willing to trade ray and sheed/bbd for iggy and dalembert/brand, but i think williams as a 3rd player would be overkill and i wouldnt want that to hold up the trade. i am a huge ray allen fan and getting him was key to turning this team around but the time is right to trade him, hes older, expriring contract, the team needs a shot in the arm and most importantly, hes not helping them in areas where they need the help. go celtics!

I've been playing around with the Trade Machine using these three teams for a month or so now. I think Ken Berger is onto something, particularly considering the Kings and Bulls have a history of trading together.

Let's keep in mind the goals: For Chicago, it's to get rid of Thomas and get cap relief from Salmons or Hinrich; for SAC, it's to get value and size for K-Mart, for the Cs, it's to get Martin.

The principals in my mind are Ty Thomas going to SAC, Ray going to Chicago, and Martin going to the Cs.

The problems are these: both the Bulls and the Kings are going to want to dump a contract (Garcia or Nocoini from the Kings, and Hinrich or Salmons from the Bulls) and I do not buy that Celtics ownership will agree to take more than one of them. The Kings are also going to want more Thomas for Martin.

Who has ideas?

I disagree that the Celtics' target should be K. Mart. If the Celts can trade Ray and get Hinrich, Ty Thomas, and filler, I would prefer that. I like Hinrich's flexibility to back-up Rondo at the point and play SG. I also like the possibility that Ty Thomas can learn from Garnett and make the leap.

The Cs need starters if they're going to trade Ray Allen -- not back-ups.

Pay attention to the salary elements -- the team least likely to do this deal is the Cs.

Everyone else gets what they want except Cs ownership who pay a MONSTER lux tax bill for a couple of years. Would they do it? I think they would do one of Hinrich and Udrih or Nocioni, but not both. This is the biggest issue facing a potential three way deal with these teams.

When you say fair, though, that needs to reflect the amount of money involved and not just the talent level of the players involved.

I'd love to see the Thunder shop Jeff Green for a legitimate third star, preferably a big man, to build around with Durant and Westbrook.

Chris Bosh would be perfect. Either now or through a sign and trade in the summer.

I think a better deal here is something like

Boston trades Ray Allen and Glen Davis
Boston receives Kirk Hinrich and Kevin Martin

Chicago trades Kirk Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas and Taj Gibson
Chicago receives Ray Allen

Sacramento trades Kevin Martin
Sacramento receives Tyrus Thomas, Glen Davis and Taj Gibson

Boston trades away their big expiring contract in Ray while assuming a lot of salary in return but in doing so sets them up as possibly having the best backcourt in the game for the next three years

Chicago gets rid of Thomas' cap hold if they don't renounce him and Hinrich horrible contract for them and get a ton of cap relief, though giving up Gibson stings a little, which might allow them to wiggle to major free agents in through straight out signings or through sign and trades using Ray Allen as a chip

Sacramento clears their backcourt and decides on Tyreke Evans will getting the young big man help they so desperately want

And this works

Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver
