It all depends on if we are healthy when the playoffs start.
Garnett seems to be getting stronger every game. That dunk with Howard chasing him was sweet. This is our first game with a full complement of players. If healthy I still like our chances.

If we get Charlotte in the 1st round, I'm not so sure we even get that far.  We've got a better chance against Chicago or Miami, though.  If Toronto gets hot, they could be tough, too, but a Charlotte series makes me VERY nervous.
Charlotte is a bomb ready to take out someone big and I got a felling it will be Cavs
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Hence why if this Ray for Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas deal is legit, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I need John Salmons included in that deal. I don't think a Hinrich + Thomas package is good enough to upgrade the Celtics.

If Kirk was going to be the starting point guard and play 35 minutes a night and Thomas 30 minutes a night as a starter, I'd definitely make that trade. But for the roles they'll be filling? And the playing time they'll be getting? It's not enough. I need John Salmons to be included to make it worthwhile.

Who ...TP, I was typing (very, very slowly) and you beat me to it...I posted the same in one of the topics last night (something about Danny won't risk it?)

I agree that we don't get enough without Salmons included, but I'm not sure ownership will be wild about adding all that payroll next year for what projects to me as a slight improvement.

But yes, after watching the C's age suck their performance to mortal levels, I think the addition of two skilled energy players (the fiesty Hinrich and the super-athletic Tyrus Thomas) to our woefully slow rotation and a competent 2-way player (Salmons) to plug the 2-guard hole, would probably be better than sitting pat and hoping for improvement down the stretch and then crossing our fingers on striking gold with the MLE.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The very likely scenario that we get booted in the second round is exactly the reason why it makes no sense to stay the course with this team. I understand what Ray means to this team, but (as has been said a million times), he represents our bridge to a solid future. If this were 2008 and Ray were expiring, we would not even consider trading him because we all knew we had a real shot at winning it all (which we did). Right now there is something fundamentally wrong with this team. To assume we have a great chance at winning the championship is a flawed view. They could turn it around, but it's hard to assume they will be clicking on all cylinders soon.
