A recent Mark Stein link said that to begin a convo about picking up Ellis, the team would have to willing to absorb Corey's contract.

I would do this in a heartbeat if our owners, who seem to be willing to take on additional salary, agreed.

Is this possible???

That's too much money for too many years.

Pass.

It is absolutely NOT too much money IF it makes us a genuine contender for years!!  Our owners would make a HUGE profit if we won 2 or 3 more World Championships in the next five years!

Yeah I agree Smitty! I don't know why everyone here is so hung up on money like this is an Economics 101 Class. It's not my money so what do I care? (lol)

As much as I love Ray, I would definitely do this deal.

Although I do not want to trade Ray Allen... I rather do this trade instead....4 for 4

Ray, Scals, J.R. and Big Baby
for
Ellis, Maggette, Bell and Randolph

i proposed a variation on this trade a week ago. seemed like a good trade for both sides. got torn down.
its easy to dismiss these trade ideas. even well balanced, reasoned ones... but they are still fun to think up.

how about this one:
chi sends hinrich, thomas and salmons. recieves ray allen, bb davis.
chi frees huge cap space adds vet sg for playoff push.

gs sends randolph and maggette. recieves thomas, salmons and bill walker.
gs looses maggette's contract, gives up talented prospect.
recieves cheaper maggette replacement and talented prospect.

bos sends ray and bbd. receives hinrich, maggette and randolph. no explanation necessary.

I don't believe that trade makes us a contender for 2/3 more years. KG is the guy who determines when our championship window closes and unless we get another top 5-10 player that's not changing. All this trade does is tie up money long term.

Add one point I agreed that Maggette was bad news...but..he's earning his contract. He would easily make 6th man of the year on this team.
Can't stop, Rondo!

You didnt' want to put on that extra 15 pounds either, but that didn't stop you from having second helpings on Xmas.
Randolph would be a lottery pick dropping into our laps.

I wouldn't take Maggette with three more years at 10 million a year under any circumstances.  Cap killer.

Take out Maggette and put in Raja Bell. Take out Scalabrine.  Then I would do the deal.
