I wasn't really that surprised to read this.  I remember Rondo and Ray having some sort of problem last year. I am surprised though, that Perk wants more shots.

Quote
The beginning of potential dissension began in Detroit two weeks ago after the Celtics fell apart in the second half and dropped another game to a lesser opponent. There they were, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen in the locker room at the Palace of Auburn Hills, openly talking about the Celtics’ issues and how selfishness was poisoning their quest to remain an elite team.
There were no names mentioned. But Rondo and Allen knew who they were talking about and just wanted to get a clear understanding that their individual issues were the same

The discussion in Detroit between Rondo and Allen was a byproduct of frustration and confusion. The fact is the Big Three are past their primes, as opposed to two years ago when the Big Three were in their primes. Pierce, Allen, and Garnett are all aging and have all slipped since the championship season, but their roles haven’t changed.

That’s the issue. There have been many examples of fading but productive superstars diverting to understudies as their careers progress. David Robinson knew it was Tim Duncan’s team during the latter stages of his career in San Antonio and accepted a lesser role without complaint. He won a championship as a reward.

In order for the Celtics to gain that magic back, they need to accept their roles. It’s also possible Rivers and Ainge need to redefine those roles.

Quote
Kendrick Perkins wants to contribute more offensively and believes the Celtics should go more inside-outside instead of the reverse. The big man from Texas is not one to mince words and he has expressed his unhappiness with the offense.

Perk wants more shots?  The who turns it over almost every time he's double teamed?  A guy who only hits 59% of his free throws?

Conjecture where in that article does it say Ray and Rondo were arguing about Rays shots?  If that's what you are eluding to? If they are going to write an article like they found something that would clue people into team dissension at least be succinct about it.  This is as bad as Rondo pulling the ' agendas ' card.  Knew who they were talking about? who.. oh that's not important.

I agree completely with your point concerning Perkins and in fact I've had my fill of the 10 min back down line drive hook move.  Concentrate on catching perfect passes so you can make easy layups and dunks Perk.. mmmmkkk?

I would much rather have the offense run through Rondo. We can't avoid the post altogether though.

i've been in perks corner since day 1. love the effort he put into transforming his body. love the aggressive determination he has shown since he made the rotation, "no layups" (boy that was a lifetime ago).
i loved the scowl when we sucked, someone had to intimidate the opposition when out record didn't.
i loved the scowl in our championship run, again showing needed determination.
loved it when he shot back "how does dwight feel about me now that i've one a ring"

this year however its getting tired. it seems to me that he has let the scowl get the better of him. he clearly feels disrespected by the refs and maybe by his own team and i don't think sheed has been a positive influence. now this "I want the ball more" is not a good sign from someone who's supposed to be all about the D.
as Amare said "lighten up and enjoy the game".

its getting tiresome. enough so that a self proclaimed perkules fan boy fan buy like myself has contemplated trading him away.

it would be hard to do in the middle of the season but a perk for marc gassol swap would actually be ok by me. perk brings playoff experience to memphis and marc brings a cooler head with comparable skills to the c's.

p.s. all quotes are paraphrased, but i hope contextually accurate.

Perk doesn't need more shots in this offense unless its those easy "gimme" dunks or short jumpers he gets because the opposing team is busy over-rotating, collapsing on someone driving the lane, or doubling someone else.

The offense isn't terribly efficient when they're running things inside out, especially from Perk.

Perk should get the ball more. When he gets the ball close to the basket he is unstoppable (see his And 1 against Pau in the Lakers game). Doc needs to run more big men screens so that his post players can get the ball on the block.

However if Perk is posting up any further than right next to the block he should not be given the ball. With KG back he will getting the ball more and more due to KG's interior passing skills.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

If Perk wasn't such a black hole in the post, not to mention a turnover machine, I'd be all for Perk getting more touches since his attempts are high-percentage.

Perk was having some great offensive moves going but now he's taking a bit too long to get into them.

This lets teams double him before he can figure out how to get rid of the ball so he either takes a bad shot or turns it over.

He'll speed up and get better.

If he wants more shots, maybe he ought to learn to shoot first?  He can start with free throws.

I am with Birdbrain, reading the article makes it sounds as though Rondo AND Ray were speaking together about some other party/parties on the team.  But lets face it, this just isn't good reporting, it's vague and inconclusive.

I am not buying that Perk wants more touches until I hear it from him, Lord knows he'd say so if he felt that way.  More likely, he's being taken out of context or something, no way he starts pulling a Mark Blount on us.

Above all, these guys are payed much better than I am, I think we should all expect them to change their diapers and fix the [dang] problem, this season's only half over and there's plenty of winning still to do....

Perk shoots 60 percent. If he took all the shots the team would shoot 60 percent. He should shoot all the shots.
