Rafer Alston wanted to play for the Celtics

I'm not surprised Danny stayed away from him, I don't think he'd be the best locker room guy when he's a backup.

When you take a risk with Marbury, I think it's safe to say you can sign Rafer Alston.

It looks like Rafer was really eager to play for us and had no problems with the playoffs series of last year and his slap to Eddie, so he probably wouldn't have caused any chemistry problems.

He caused problems in Orlando and in Houston, why wouldn't he cause them here?

Besides the Marbury signing didn't work did it? I recall several quotes saying that he was a distraction in the locker room a couple of times and Doc had to say something to him.

  Was it Orlando? I thought it was Toronto where they shipped him out of town.

  They didn't really take a risk with Marbury. They brought him in and told him if he stepped at all out of line they were going to cut him.

Possible, but don't we have an open spot right now, from cutting Lester?  I think Lue's really just here because Doc wants to help him start his coaching career.

"Skip to my lou" is aggressive, can defend, and most importan, he can shoot.

Absolutely. When you analyze Hinrich you just can't look at numbers. He does so many little  things that just don't show up in the box score and has a high basketball IQ. I would also expect his shooting % to go up if he ever played with a big man that forces double teams which would give him more open looks.

Was comparing Hinrich's situation to Alston who has played with Yao & Howard and despite that has shot poorly. Hinrich has never been able to play with a player that commands a double team. We have guys that force double teams which will give Hinrich more open shots than he has ever received.

He was claimed on waivers, correct?  So the Celtics could NOT have picked him up anyway, right?  If so, then I don't see the importance of this thread.  But if I'm in error here, my apologies.  (But even so, I still don't see the need for this thread).  what's bygones is bygones...

Rafer has sucked this year, he's sucked for the Nets and sucked for the Heat. Is he a better true backup PG than Eddie, sure. Does he add more to the team though, probably not.

I don't think passing on him should make anyone sick.

That and a PG that prefers to pass the ball and has outstanding court vision.

Skip definitely had something to offer this team.  I'm not comfortable with rondo playing 40minutes a game no matter how young he is.  If we had a shot at him with our infastructure of players---you take him. If you can take sam cassell, marbury...make it happen, skip is not the antichrist here.  much as a like quisy, I dont' like him running the point.  <this is assuming we had a shot at skip ofcourse>

Besides the House slap he also had an incident with Rondo (apologies if it was already mentioned). Perhaps those two incidents had an impact.
