If we are involved in a Bosh trade it will be much more likely as a third team involved that can provide some salary that another team can't.
This works
Blake, Outlaw, Webster, J. Howard to Boston
Ray Allen, Batum, Por 1st to Toronto
Bosh, Belinelli to Portland
Boston buys out Howard allowing him to return to Portland.
That's a very interesting idea. I think I'd have to be convinced that we'd be able to re-sign Travis Outlaw, though. I'm not sure Martell Webster could really fill Ray's shoes that well, although he played pretty well when he was filling in for Brandon Roy this past month.
I doubt that trade would happen just because Portland tends to way overvalue their young guys and their picks. Toronto also wants the added revenue that comes with making the playoffs, and they don't get that unless they hold onto Bosh for the rest of the season.
Portland also loses all of its wings and only gets back Belinelli in return. Really doubt they'd do it, even to get Bosh. Bosh + LMA probably isn't that great of a combo (they're both 'soft').
They still have Joel down low for some toughness. Outlaw is currently hurt so I'm not sure they wouldn't mind parting with him. Blake is a backup in a deep PG rotation so they could part with him. Webster and Batum is what might tie them up, but I think they do it to get Bosh who is significantly better then their current interior players (and that includes Aldridge). I realize they might not re-sign Bosh, but I think it is worth the risk of Webster and Batum to make a real run this year (Outlaw and Blake are both expiring and likely gone at the end of the year anyway). I'm sure the trade could be finagled to give them someone else back that could be helpful to them on the wing i.e. Daniels (though that woudl require more pieces coming out of POrtland or at least someone more expensive then Juwon). And you never know, maybe Bosh falls in love with Portland and the idea of playing with Roy, Aldridge, and company and decides to re-up out there.
